To correctly measure earth resistance with the three pole method, it is necessary to understand this resistance versus distance diagram. This diagram varies depending on the distance between the earth electrode E and the current electrode H The earth resistance can be correctly measured by placing the S electrode somewhere in the middle between the and electrodes. So how true is this? In this video we will take a look at how the resistance versus distance diagram changes by changing the distance. Between electrodes and H we experimented with distances of 2010 and 5 meters. Between the and H the electrode was fixed and as we moved the S electrode towards the electrode, the earth resistance was measured. None. In the case of 20 meters, we can see that there is a region in the center where the resistance hardly changes and here is where the earth resistance can be accurately measured. Even in other areas, it appears to be flat, yet it varies gradually. For 10 meters there is no area where the resistance does not change. The diagram is clearly incurved state for the five meters. To accurately measure Earth resistance, avoid the curve area and place the electrode in the flat area. Due to this, the distance between ES and H must be increased. The resistance versus distance diagram varies depending on the distance between the and H By finding the flat area between the and H you can correctly measure the earth resistance. Therefore, the distance relationship between ES and H should be maximized.
