In 1 day, our sales increased from 2,000 to 10,000 orders because of Black Friday. And to survive an overnight increase in demand like that, you need to add people and hours. At My 1st Years, we do this without hiring a single agency person. Every one of the additional staff is a friend or family member of the existing staff on our payroll. Here is the breakdown of what we do: We typically have 100 people in production. During busy periods, we scale it up to 200 people and increase production hours. Instead of getting an agency to put bums on seats, we ask our staff if they know anyone who may need extra work and would like to work here. And we are always inundated with referrals. The benefit for us is simple - they're trusted, we know them, and they come recommended by someone that we already know is good at the job. We don't have to worry about the fact that there might be an agency getting involved and trying to take a commission and potentially move them into another warehouse down the road at short notice. Instead, we hit our Black Friday targets, and we got to support the friends and family of the team that made all of this possible in the first place.

🚨Reminder For Small Businesses: Black Friday is Fast Approaching!🚨 12 Fridays (less if you’re taking fall break vacation)..... I know most of us are hanging onto summer but it’s time to plan your sales strategy now given the election dynamics in play this year and earlier expectations from consumers. No denying that those small biz owners who prepare in advance drive revenue further vs those who react too late in the game with lackluster offers. I for one am coaching clients to have strategies nailed down and ready to execute no later than Halloween. I’ll leave you with 3 strategies I’m looking at with clients (mom + pops) for this year in case you need inspiration to move in this direction while it’s still 90 degrees outside: -hourly sales -local influencer collaborations -in store early access shopping passes You’ve been warned, ha!

Late-night emails and WhatsApp messages have become the norm in our industry (Yesterday evening I had a whatsapp from one client at at 7pm another at 8:30 & another at 9:00 also emails from two different clients after 9pm), and honestly, I always think about how hard and passionate they are about what they do - as I am completely the same and always working till late. Working in digital and e-commerce means being surrounded by people who truly love what they do and are deeply invested in their work. As we approach Black Friday and Christmas, I see more and more people using their evenings to think, strategize, and connect—because the day-to-day is that busy. Some respond late, some don’t, and that’s okay—especially with so many of us working across different time zones now. But one thing is clear: digital and e-commerce teams are the real driving force behind online sales and lead generation. While retailers work to show value and entice shoppers to spend wisely, it’s the people behind the scenes—working late nights, solving problems, and driving results—that make it all possible.

Be the first to announce Black Friday. I froze on hearing that. This is just September, for goodness’ sake! Why announce Black Friday sales when your business cannot even cover your monthly transportation cost? Your business is still trying to gain grounds, and you're rushing to announce sales before Jumia. Dear business owner, please be calming down. I know we have entered the ember season and many of you are getting ready to jump on the bandwagon sales and customer acquisition strategy, Black Friday. This does not imply that Black Friday doesn't work for businesses, it does. Some people consider it an opportunity to connect with brands they love but can't afford. For some businesses, it is a way of giving people the opportunity to experience them at a low cost. There are many reasons businesses offer Black Friday sales. But for you, who is a small business owner, I think what you should be considering before announcing Black Friday sales is the cost of customer acquisition. Is your business really capable of leaving money on the table at will? If you have to lose too much money to acquire one customer, is it worth it? Would you rather hurt your business in pursuit of customers you cannot guarantee will remain? Black Friday is a good strategy that doesn't work for every business. Dear business owner, find your strategy. 🚨 I thought to share this with you before the sales siren starts blaring. 🚨 .. .. .. .. Kindly follow Onyinye Ezulofor for more insightful and educating content. I am open for excellent customer service training, speaking and brand communication. I have updated my blog about Black Friday from last year. After my webinar the other day, there were some parts I really wanted to address here for people considering a Black Friday Sale. Like all the things I coach and teach, the key thing I want people to consider is the sustainability of their offerings. Will it send you broke? Will it alienate your customers? Will you overwork your staff and lose more money on wages than you make on discounts? In my Membership, I created a 60-page campaign planning document with swipe files for email campaigns for both e-commerce and service-based industries. So, if you are considering a sale, the time to plan is now, but make sure it is going to work for you. I am keen to know your thoughts on black Friday. https://lnkd.in/gmxwT-C9
