Happy #NationalNursesWeek! 🥳 We celebrate the resilience and compassion of nurses who have faced immense challenges in recent years. A recent CDC study highlighted the struggles that many nurses are facing, as well as amazing resources for supporting them: https://lnkd.in/eNiS5SJR -Nearly half of health workers reported often feeling burned out in 2022, up from 32% in 2018. -In 2022, almost half of the surveyed health workers planned to look for a new job. -Healthcare workers reported less burnout when they had enough time to complete their work and be productive. These statistics were some of the key motivating factors behind our Productivity Suite, which aims to empower #healthcare workers to feel more confident and efficient at work. By continually investing in nurses' success and well-being, we hope to provide them the support needed to keep making a profound difference, day in and day out. The term burnout has now become a staple for healthcare workers especially nurses post Covid Era. Post Covid because during the pandemic our energy were all stretched out to respond to the need of the community and so then after the virus settled the signs and symptoms of the burnout started coming and spreading like wildfires. Occupational burnout happens when the healthcare provider is being pulled in different directions while they are trying to get to a direction where their perceived priorities are. Competing priorities. First, it would create a feeling of dissatisfaction to the healthcare provider as they are unable to perform the care or provide services how they would like it to be and at the time they need to do it. Second, it creates a feeling of frustration for not having the help they need when they needed it. Third, as healthcare providers most are oftentimes struggling with putting themselves first before others thus, when they ask for a time off and not allowed to, it creates some kind of distrust. And with these burnout starts. Management support could mean the following: 1. Providing enough staff so that one doesn't have to do the work of 10 people at the same time. Clear cut job descriptions. 2. Enough supplies. Quality supplies. 3. Structured physical design of a workplace to help decrease the number of steps the staff takes to perform a task: easy access to medicine dispensers, wound care supplies, linens, etc. Get them process improvement officer or team follow a nurse or a doctor for a week and see how they can improve the process. Or how about ergonomic tables and chairs. Smart rooms, anyone? 4. Equipments that actually works and has ease of use. Phones that you can't see the numbers needs to be thrown away and replaced with new ones. 4. Leadership being accessible to the frontliners. We cannot feel your presence with an email. Schedule a day in your week to go walk the unit hallways. 5. Respect for personal time-off. No guilt-tripping staff responsibly taking the time off to create a work-life balance into coming in to work to fill the gaps of staffing. 6. Even kids do not want to be micromanaged. You hired us to do the job, you need to trust that we can get the job done. To do this: Develop a robust Talent Acquisition team matched with Highly Organized Onboarding team that personalizes the process instead of just giving out onboarding instructions that is mass tailored. 7. Zero tolerance for Bullying, Violence, Abuse of any form. One doesn't have to keep looking at their shoulder while providing care. What are the ways you have implemented in your facility to help decrease burnout amongst staff members?

With increasing demands on time, energy, and resources, health care professionals are experiencing burnout at increasingly higher rates and staff turnover continues to rise. Burnout leads to lower levels of staff engagement, patient experience, and productivity, and an increased risk of workplace accidents. Burnout also limits a providers’ empathy, a crucial component of effective person-centered care. Yet barely one-third (35%) of U.S. hospital workers said that current wellness programs encourage a healthier lifestyle. LeAnn believes healthcare givers are not burned out but drained out. Workplace Mental Health Specialist Mitigating the unique mental health challenges in high-pressure environments & workplace demands that can lead to significant psychological hazards | 360-Degree Wellness Solution™
📍The State of Healthcare: Urgent Call for Change The other morning, as I drove my son to his swimming lesson which is right next our local hospital, I saw an ambulance ( pick below) And followed shortly was a car with a sign that read, “Having a midwife crisis, midwives cannot keep pushing.” I wasn’t quick enough to grab a pic, maybe next time. But my heart broke. As a former healthcare worker, I understand the immense pressures and extreme conditions faced daily. Healthcare professionals are expected to keep pushing because they are in a caring field, but even those with the heart to serve will eventually burn out under certain conditions, such as: - ⭐️ Long shifts - ⭐️ Poor staffing levels - ⭐️ Increased workloads - ⭐️ More complex health needs - ⭐️ Increased demand - ⭐️ Constant stress and pressure While also: - ❌ Missing family events - ❌ Getting minimal sleep - ❌ Having less downtime for self-care These factors take a toll on their physical and mental health. ☑️The Solution We need to shift our focus from making our healthcare workers “stronger" or more "tolerant" but directly address the imbalances that lead to these conditions. - Nearly 32% of nurses plan to retire or leave the field altogether. - More than one-third (34%) of nurses surveyed said they are likely to quit due to burnout and high-stress environments. - A recent report from Victoria highlighted that over one-third of paramedics feel burnt out, with 10% considering leaving the profession within the next year. Interestingly, the study indicates that females are more likely to experience total burnout. ☑️Mental Health Awareness This is Mental Health Awareness Month, a time to raise awareness and focus on prevention rather than cure. However, our efforts should not be limited to this month alone. Our healthcare workers play a critical role in our communities, and their well-being directly impacts the safety and health of others. How is your organisation addressing the well-being and mental health of your employees, especially those in high-pressure roles? ********************************************* Let’s connect: ✅ Keynote speaker/panelist ✅ Leadership & team Training & Consultation on: - 📍 Leadership - 📍 Mental health - 📍 Work-life balance - 📍 Well-being - 📍 Resilience #mentalhealthawarenessmonth
