Good morning, Our commitment to innovation has been recognized, as our approach was marked as most innovative solution for problem statement Projection of the extent of inundation corresponding to the forecast of flood levels in a river in SIH 2023 organized by MHRD, MoE & AICTE at nodal center VNR VJIET, Hyderabad. While all other teams preferred SAR(Satellite) images, ours was the only team who preferred DEM images. A Digital Elevation Model (DEM) is a digital cartographic dataset that represents a continuous topographic elevation surface through a series of cells. As DEM file stores other predictive features like Slope, aspect etc, we were able to build a predictive model which highlights inundation area with change in water level. We also developed a learning model which created synthetic points around the river using .shp file for training purpose & also derived predictive features for each of the synthetic shape. These predictive rasters were then merged using Composite Raster in QGIS. We trained our model using DNN on synthesized data & tested it for real time .shp file finally resulting in .tiff which forecasted not only flood susceptibility but also projected these points indicating flood affected area. #Team PhoenixRisers

Esri | Sentinel-1 Explorer 🌍🌊🌧️🌏 Explore ESRI sentinel - 1 for SAR data analysis. For example, take Flood Data analysis, i.e. you can observe the change between the condition before the flood and the condition after the flood (Assam ,India). You can make various decisions at the management level. ** No coding knowledge (Programming Language)is required to do this analysis. “3D Hydrography Program” This abstract describes the 3D Hydrography Program; a hydrograph features dataset derived from an elevational dataset. “The US Geological Survey (USGS) is the main source of publicly available elevation data in the United States. One of the USGS’s major programs, the 3D Hydrography Program (3DHP), includes Elevation-Derived Hydrography (EDH), a detailed water features dataset that is derived from elevation data such as Digital Elevation Models (DEMs). EDH fills the need for hydrography data that align with elevation data, which is important for analysis such as flood modeling. It is difficult to use hydrographic and elevation data together if they do not align—for example, a hydrographic features dataset produced from imagery might indicate a different location for a river’s edge than an elevation dataset over the same area. Because EDH data consist of hydrological features derived from an elevation dataset, the two datasets will align, enabling more accurate analysis and hydro modeling.” Please see Ray and Barker (2024) in Journal of Soil and Water Conservation, “Elevation-Derived Hydrography: The USGS’s rich new hydrological features dataset”

I am displaying the distribution of groundwater potential and its fluctuations in the West Midnapore district, West Bengal for different phases of the monsoon cycle in the year 2015 using the Inverse Distance Weighting (IDW) method. This is a mapping technique that utilizes ArcGIS software and ArcMap to visualize the data. The data pertains to the West Midnapore district's groundwater levels and their changes over time. The focus is on tracking the groundwater levels during the different phases of the monsoon season. #gis #arcgis #IDW #groundwater #westmidnapur #fluctuation #mapping #arcmap #environment

Completed a comprehensive erosion and accretion monitoring project for 2017-2024 using Google Earth Engine. Developed LULC maps and exported them for further analysis in ArcGIS. Converted raster files to polygons, extracted water body areas, and calculated geometries to accurately assess erosion and accretion dynamics over time. #WRE #RemoteSensing #GIS #GoogleEarthEngine #ArcGIS #ErosionMonitoring #AccretionAnalysis #LULCMapping
