CAPTAIN KAPIL SINGH THAPA, MAHA VIR CHAKRA (POSTHUMOUS), IC-14682 3 JAT 1965 INDO-PAK WAR Captain Kapil Singh Thapa was born to Subedar Major D S Thapa on 02 November 1937, in Dehradun, Uttarakhand. He studied at New Forest Higher Secondary School, Dehradun. He was commissioned into the 3 JAT on 30 June 1963. Captain Kapil Singh Thapa was awarded the Maha Vir Chakra on 21 September 1965. The Indo-Pak War of 1965 was the second war fought between these two bordering countries. While India was still recovering from the Sino-India War of 1962, Pakistan saw it as an opportunity to acquire Jammu and Kashmir with might, presuming India to be weak in terms of defence preparation. The war began on 24 April 1965, when the Pakistan Army attacked Indian territory in the Rann of Kutch and penetrated six to eight miles inside the Indian territory. This act of illegal occupation of Indian territory constituted violation of the Indo-Pak Border Agreement, 1960 and the international law as per the United Nations Charter. The Pakistani forces subsequently intruded in Kashmir with the launch of Operation Gibraltar. 3 JAT, backed by divisional artillery, planned a significant flanking manouvre covering 6000 yards to seize Dograi in the Lahore Sector from the North. On 21 September, 3 JAT carried out extensive patrolling to gather intelligence on Dograi, which was to be attacked in the night. It was discovered that the Pakistanis were well entrenched. There were minefield and wire entanglements. The town itself was guarded by reinforced concrete pill-boxes around its three approaches. Lieutenant Colonel Desmond Hayde led 3 JAT, and was the first to cross The International Border on 06 September 1965. Despite a successful initial attack capturing the hamlet of Dograi, insufficient support and air cover forced a withdrawal to Santpura. After a fifteen-day wait, the Unit launched a second attack on Dograi on the night of September 21/22. Captain Kapil Singh Thapa was tasked with capturing the North Western edge of Dograi village. Captain Thapa, along with his men, initiated a bold assault on the assigned target on 21 September, 1965. Leading his men through a minefield, he personally spearheaded the attack on well-defended enemy positions, engaging the enemy with grenades and bayonets. Despite heavy resistance, they successfully captured the objectives. Tragically, Captain Thapa sustained severe injuries in the intense firefight and ultimately sacrificed his life at the age of 27. He displayed outstanding courage, grit and fighting spirit in the highest traditions of the Indian Army. Captain Kapil Singh Thapa was awarded the Maha Vir Chakra for this conspicuous gallantry. Had to insure it was a real action after it occurred. Realize the WHY of the PRC public's reaction to this action and the puzzlement. And yet though there is the promise of something, maybe its better looked at in the strategic focus in what this does for the PRC. In was an item necessary to enable the focus on military operations in the South China Sea and close the backdoor to attack. Such has been done now so fast that even the propaganda can not keep up with the change. https://lnkd.in/eNQpmUNM

The Centre has directed central intelligence agencies to increase personnel deployment along the China frontier from Ladakh to Arunachal Pradesh in order to monitor the activities of the Chinese Peoples Liberation Army amidst frequent border skirmishes. The directive aims to curb any transgression bid by the Chinese troops, who have been increasingly moving deeper into India-claimed territory. Specifically, intelligence officials will work in tandem with the troops of the Indian Army and the ITBP, along with other agencies, to keep tabs on any suspicious activities of the PLA. This comes amid an ongoing military standoff in Ladakh and increased activity by the Chinese army along the LAC. #AsiaRisk #GeopoliticalConflictandDisputes #India Follow us for daily updates on risk and operations in Asia! https://lnkd.in/gg9gtHU4

I am deeply concerned about the recent reports indicating that Myanmar security forces are seeking shelter in Bangladesh. It is evident that these individuals are fleeing out of fear of death and destruction in their own country. The ongoing situation in Myanmar, particularly involving the Rohingya people, is indeed heartbreaking, and it calls for immediate international attention and action. The plight of the Rohingya Muslims in Myanmar is a tragedy that has caused immense suffering and misery. It is crucial that the international community, including the United Nations, take swift and resolute action to address this humanitarian crisis. The suffering of the Rohingya people must not be overlooked, and urgent measures need to be taken to ensure their safety and well-being. I implore the international community, including the United Nations, to prioritize this critical issue and work towards providing the necessary support and protection for those affected by the crisis in Myanmar. It is imperative that we stand in solidarity and take proactive steps to alleviate the suffering of the Rohingya people and all those affected by the conflict in Myanmar.

CLAIM: Biden and Harris want more border patrol agents but Trump is “standing in the way.” REALITY: The border bill was packed with billions of dollars of initiatives that had nothing to do with the southern border. Here are some of the items included in the bill that do not effect border security: $60.06 billion to support Ukraine in its fight against Russia. (Roughly 3x more than what the border security would receive.) $14.1 billion in security assistance for Israel. $2.44 billion to support operations in the U.S. CENTCOM and address unrest and combat expenditures in the Red Sea. $10 billion in humanitarian assistance to civilians in Gaza and the West Bank, Ukraine, and other populations caught in conflict zones across the globe. $4.83 billion to support Indo-Pacific allies and deter Chinese aggression $2.33 billion to continue support for Ukrainian refugees displaced after the war against Russia. $400 million for the Nonprofit Security Grant Program in aid to help nonprofits and places of worship enhance their security. TOTAL: $94.460 billion US taxpayer dollars going to non-border crisis related endeavors. https://lnkd.in/e5NFZsqP

All of us, strategists, planners, activists, advocates and forces on the ground need to pay heed to all analyses so that we could make the most logical decision based on all the available information. It is nor wise to ignore information that you dislike due to your own wishful thinking. Excerpts Careful and honest analysis over jingoistic triumphalism will lead to longer forecasts of conflict and thus more accurately portray the multiple challenges that will follow any insurgent military victory. As Operation 1027 enters its next phase, its leaders and strategists will need to study and weigh the lessons of October 2023 carefully and adapt their tactics and plans for the most likely still long struggle ahead.
