Today we honor all of the grill masters. The guys who can fix anything with a paperclip and a rubber band. The Dad’s who check the closets for boogeymen. That studly guy cutting the grass wearing new balance and cargos. The guy who lives for the Costco hotdog. Yeah, I’m speaking to you! Happy Father’s Day from everyone at Hire10! How not to run a business Chipotle Mexican Grill: This is your 212 Westlake Ave N, Seattle, WA 98109 store. I just visited it for the 3rd or 4th time and I agree with all the reviews. It baffles me how many people and corporations run businesses without checking their reviews and listening to their customers. Every review counts, especially if the first 15 reviews are all 1 star with actual non-bot feedback. Chipotle: Webster Tx. Have you ever wondered if the employees featured in TV commercials are actual employees or perhaps actors? Me too. Today, at one of my favorite place for lunch, I met Christina - the manager and actual Chipotle employee who's featured in a recent commercial. In our brief conversation, I mentioned how awesome it must be the face of a franchise and asked if this was something she applied for, volunteered to, or was asked to do?! She said her boss helped push her name through the process, but wasn't sure she'd get the opportunity because of - in her own words, an occasional stutter. As an affirmation, I said the commercial was spot on and she was great! I even doubled down by sharing that some of the most influential people we know - had an occasional stutter. ... the likes of Ed Sheeran to Elvis, Kendrick Lamar to the voice of the The Lion King, even in biblical terms for Moses who went to the Pharaoh. What a nice reminder of a modern miracle, in my opinion. - Disfluencies won't keep us from being an influence. - Opportunities are abound. - The value of seeing greatness in others, and to help see them through. Earlier this summer my husband celebrated 10 years working at his company. The company he works for happens to be an O.C. Tanner client! We practice what we preach at O.C. Tanner, so I get to experience the magic of recognition first hand, and it was so cool to see my husband get to experience this same magic at his company. We went through his yearbook together, and I felt so proud of him as I was reading the comments from his peers. We're a big pancake family, specifically the Kodiak Cakes mix from Costco (If you know you know), and he chose this waffle maker as the gift from his milestone celebration. You may be thinking, big deal, it's just a waffle maker. But now when we make waffles as a family, (with chocolate chips for extra joy), we can remember the wonderful comments from colleagues and friends and think about how cool it is to work for companies that appreciate their people. If you're currently giving out cash bonuses for special recognition or milestone achievement, I would ask you to consider what these types of experiences could mean for your people. Recognition goes beyond compensation, and it could be the difference maker you've been looking for. #appreciation #employeerecognition #employeeexperience

Negotiating Tips from Toddlers It doesn’t matter the setting (home, restaurant, store, anywhere); they go into negotiations— 1. Knowing exactly what they want. 2. Intuitively knowing what they can reasonably get. 3. Sticking to their guns (they’ll just keep asking “why” or “why not” with a comeback for everything). 4. Willing to walk away from a bad deal (or throw a huge fit). It’s incredible. They’re fearless. The batting average of a toddler has got to dwarf that of any professional negotiator. What do you think, Adam Grant? What are your best negotiating tips? #negotiations #negotiationskills #negotiationtips #parenting

Last week I went to Taco Bell for the first time in 20 years. I pulled into the drive-thru and froze at the menu. I thought, if I'm going to do this to my digestive track, it better be worth it. So many choices, so much pressure. This is an example of why 40-60% of lost opportunities end in no decision. The buying group wants to buy. But people regret bad outcomes from their choices and actions way more than doing nothing. FOMU > FOMO. So how can we, as sellers, figure out what buyers are worried about before it's too late? By learning what's causing them to get cold feet. But how do we detect that? Well, buyer indecision boils down into 3 key buckets: - Feeling overwhelmed by choices - Feeling overwhelmed by information - Feeling overwhelmed by expectations If your buyer is stuck between 2 or 3 tradeoffs but can't figure out which is best option, it's probably a choice issue. Yet, if they keep asking for more details, more demos or just want to circle back after they read one more report, they're probably struggling to process all the information they think they need to decide. And if they keep asking you to prove it'll work, because it's their neck on the line, then they're probably worried the outcome won't meet their expectations. There are ways to approach each of these buyer worries. If you're working on an important deal and one of these resonates, feel free to DM me, happy to help share a few ideas. And luckily, I overcame feeling overwhelmed by Taco Bell's choices and managed to order. Was it worth it? Oh yeah. Every. Bite. 😋 Feel free to drop your go-to TB order below, so my next trip is a little easier. 👇 👇 👇 #buyer #indecision #challengersale #jolteffect

On news that Kings & Convicts-owned Ballast Point ceased production at its Miramar, California brewery and sold the facility to an ‘unnamed buyer’ … the company has confirmed two rounds of layoffs, San Diego Beer News reported last week. Well, that’s shocking. Not. Two companies — Constellation Brands and Kings & Convicts Brewing Co. took a billion dollar+ bath — combined. Someone’s drivin’ with their eyes closed. Make no mistake about it: These are no ‘pandemic-related’ business issues. With all the ‘smart’ bankers, attorneys, M&A companies and consultants, and more — none saw this coming?? I did. And I know many, many more that did too.
