"It's just windows and doors, how hard can it be?" is the normal response I get from my mates in other trades when talking about our projects at Benchmark Windows Ltd 🤦♂️ How about the logistics of this size delivery? For those not too familiar with German, that is the pallet sizes and weights for an upcoming project, which translates to Length x Width x Height plus the weight for each pallet! What do we have to take into consideration when working on a job like this? - Ensuring we have sufficient warehouse space 🏢 - Receiving delivery and unloading of goods to our warehouse 🏗 - Quality checking of goods upon delivery 🔍 - Transfer of goods from warehouse to site 🚚 - Staff health and safety 👷♀️ - Installation process 📑 - Hiring of telehandler 🚜 - Graham Lowe / Glass Lifter 🏋♂️ The list goes on! It's not as simple as some people may think but it's worth it in the end 🙂 #BenchmarkWindows #Benchmark #Windows #Doors #TripleGlazing #DoubelGlazing #Internorm #Sussex #NewBuild #Refurbishment #PassivHaus #EnerPHit

⚡️Watching linemen manually wrap electricity wires for protection is truly impressive. 🛑 It takes incredible skill to handle smaller wires with precision and a two-handed twist, ensuring everything is perfectly aligned. With larger wires, the risks increase—getting hands or fingers caught can be extremely painful, and assistance is crucial. This highlights the importance of having a spotter. Linemen undergo four years of rigorous training and extensive job experience to earn their certification and handle high voltage work, which is both high-stakes and well-compensated. The application of armor rods, essential for protecting terminations, must be done manually and high above ground, showcasing their expertise and dedication. #LinemanLife #HighVoltageHeroes #SkilledTrades #SafetyFirst #ElectricityExperts #HandsOnWork ⚡️

⚡️Electricity wires being manually wrapped for protection. 🛑 From an actual lineman: On smaller wires, with a little skill, you can set all the wraps on the line and with a two handed twist get them perfectly started. If you mess up, the armour rods will get twisted over each other and you'll have to restart. But if you get it perfect it'll just lay right down for you. Unfortunately on a line this size, in that that first twist, if you get your hands/fingers caught, especially if you get both of them caught at once, it hurts like hell and you can't get out until somebody comes and saves you. So you have to work with a spotter! And this guy seems to be a certified linesman, that’s 4 years of training and school and then a decent amount of job experience before you get the high voltage work. The pay is equally good. Thankfully that armour rod is just as long as the termination you can see further along the line in the video. But it can't be done or automated in the factory. It needs to be done up there! How many times your current salary would you expect to do a job like this? #Skills #Job #Safety

"We extended an offer to him yesterday and were hoping to have an answer by now. We're looking for someone in this role who is decisive, maybe he's not the right person for us." 🙄 Unless you're hiring for a bomb squad technician, having a candidate take a few days to respond on an offer should be seen as an overwhelmingly positive reflection of their decision-making ability. Changing jobs is one of the most impactful and life-altering decisions that we make throughout our lives. For someone to give an instant answer on such a substantial decision, I would seriously question how much thought they're going to put into menial work tasks. When extending offers, provide a MINIMUM of 2-3 business days for a response. Anything less than that and I'd start to question the company's decision making much more than the candidate's. #HappyHunting
