This is not a rant: Why do people still call Tech Labari a "blog"? When it started in 2017, it was a "blog" that featured more personal commentary on the tech ecosystem in Ghana. Fast forward and it's evolved from being a blog to a full-on news website with news updates, long-form articles, and data analysis. So why does the "blog" term still stick? Is it just easier to call it a "blog"? Is it because it's not run by a full team? Do you call the CNN website a blog site? Do you call Techcrunch a blog site? Does the same apply to TechCabal? Just trying to understand the psychology of it all. Just want to know how serious tech media/journalism in Africa is taken and how the general audience views news stories and publications that come from local/African sources #Media #Journalism #Africa

One of the most interesting presentations at last week's largest technology conference in the Slovak Republic – ITAPA – was the presentation on digital transformation in Estonia. Estonia is considered one of the best countries in this field. Estonia is the only country in the world where eVoting is enabled at the national level. Every citizen is the owner of his/her personal data. Interestingly, even marriage can be arranged through a digital service. Fun fact: Divorce is the only service (among all life situations) that is not digitalized. However, it is planned to be digitalized next year, which would make Estonia a 100% digital country. Congratulations! 👏 A very interesting piece of information was that old-fashioned librarians were transformed into smart ones 😉 As the presenter said, in every small community or city, librarians are expected to be digital superheroes and help others. Thanks to Carmen Raal from the e-Estonia Briefing Centre for a very interesting presentation about the digital transformation topic at the country level and for sharing best practices with others. It was very inspirating 👍 #digitalization #digitaltransformation #smartsolutions

Product Manager | Passionate Technologist | Tech Entrepreneur | Bridging the Digital Divide in Northern Nigeria | Technology and Ecosystem Advocate.
This year, Digital Nigeria by NITDA Nigeria and Federal MInistry of Communications and Digital Economy, Nigeria Nigeria turned heads by showcasing tech CEOs in a remarkable decorative display. However, something caught our attention—there were no CEOs from Northern Nigeria gracing the stage. Does this mean that the region lacks tech industry leaders? Not necessarily. There could be various reasons behind this, and one of them is the awareness that we've been lagging behind. But rather than see this as a setback, let's consider it a wake-up call. It's time for us in the North to unite and build a thriving tech community. There's an abundance of successful founders in our region, yet their contributions often go unnoticed. It's not just about support; it's about acknowledging the remarkable impact they've made within the tech ecosystem. It's clear that many of our Northern founders work in isolation. But by fostering collaboration, strengthening networks, and forming partnerships, we can raise awareness, grow our community, and garner the recognition we deserve. It's about boosting the morale of founders and making their successes more visible. Moreover, our stories need a bigger platform. We need to be intentional and assertive in how and where we share our success stories. We often underestimate the power of media presence and storytelling. It's time to seize control of our narrative, be it through blogs, social media, or mainstream media outlets like Arise and Channels business news. To take it a step further, I’m building a YouTube and a community aim to simplify tech in the Hausa language, specifically targeting the Northern region, and expanding my reach. I aspire to make this brand widely recognized, enabling me to host individuals and potentially implement a strategy inspired by Peace Itimi's work.
