You: Yes, this is [my name]. HR: Great! I’m calling to discuss an opportunity with our company. Can you tell me a bit about your experience with the required skill set? You: Sure, I have experience in [briefly described my relevant skills and experience]. HR: That sounds perfect! Everything seems to match what we’re looking for. Which location are you currently considering for work? You: I’m looking for opportunities in Bangalore. HR: Oh, okay. Were you born and brought up in Bangalore? You (surprised): No, I wasn’t. Why do you ask? HR: Actually, we have a company protocol where we’re not hiring people from “Andhra Pradesh” or “Telangana” You (confused): What? What kind of rule is that? And why? HR: It’s nothing personal. It’s just a company protocol, part of our hiring policy. You (shocked): That’s really surprising. I’ve never heard of such a policy before. It’s disheartening to witness the growing discrimination based on nativity within India. It's an organization that focuses on helping and supporting IT, BPO, and KPO professionals in India. Their main goal is to ensure the well-being, rights, justice, and empowerment of workers in these industries. NITES was founded on 𝗔𝘂𝗴𝘂𝘀𝘁 𝟭𝟱, 𝟮𝟬𝟮𝟬, because of the increasing number of layoffs and forced resignations in the IT sector. They work to address various employment issues such as illegal terminations, layoffs, wage reductions, forced resignations, and problems related to maternity benefits. The organization actively takes steps to unite and strengthen IT/ITeS/BPO/KPO employees. Since its inception, NITES has raised concerns for more than 𝟴𝟯,𝟬𝟬𝟬 employees and has taken legal actions by filing petitions in Labor Ministry, Labor Departments, and District Magistrate offices against unfair employment practices. Additionally, NITES is involved in spreading awareness about labor laws among employees and encourages them to stand together. Currently, more than 𝟮𝟳,𝟬𝟬𝟬 employees have joined NITES on various platforms. The organization emphasizes that IT employees deserve the same rights as workers in other industries. Recently, the labor department in Maharashtra sent a notice to 𝗧𝗮𝘁𝗮 𝗖𝗼𝗻𝘀𝘂𝗹𝘁𝗮𝗻𝗰𝘆 𝗦𝗲𝗿𝘃𝗶𝗰𝗲𝘀 (𝗧𝗖𝗦) based on a complaint filed by NITES. NITES accused TCS of transferring over 𝟮𝟬𝟬𝟬 employees without giving them proper notice or consulting with them. #NITES #labourministry #employeewelfare #layoffs
