A good example here of how to get on the outside of an attack and create space in the backfield - Highlanders are quick to set their shape to attack off a good kick return. Rhys Patchell (10) is attached well to that first pod off 9. The wider players have done a good job of scanning and feeding information of where the space is. - Moana Pasifika do well to identify what the attack are doing and swim off past the first pod, and Julian Savea (12) rushes out of the defensive line to put pressure on that pod connected to Patchell. What Patchell does excellently here is to stand still and get the pass away quickly to the attached back out of the pod off 10. Sometimes you can engage a defence by letting them come to you. With that connected pod running hard lines Savea is now in no-man’s land and ends up turning his hips, allowing the Highlanders to get on the outside. - The next part of this attack has forced a backfield player to come up into the frontline to shut off the attack. This has created space in behind the defence. Highlanders make a decent decision based off this and kick through to create pressure on the Pasifika defence in their 22 Sometimes, in attack it’s about causing pressure on the defence and forcing them to give you a better scenario to attack off. Some good learnings to take from this.

Dick Fosbury and the most successful flop of all times What a privilege to be in Paris during these phenomenal #JOPARIS2024! While attending an athletics event in the #StadedeFrance, I reflect on the legacy of #DickFosbury (1947-2023) and his gold medal in the high jump in Mexico 1968 Olympic games. Fosbury pioneered a revolutionary technique of high jump that allowed him to win the gold medal and that was totally different from the prevalent straddle technique of that time. At start, it was ironically called “the Fosbury flop” looking at the way he landed on his back, but it was all but a flop! Over time, most athletes adopted and improved his technique that is since then prevalent in the high jump. For that reason, #DickFosbury is considered one of the most influential athletes of all times. What I find amazing is how he developed this revolutionary technique during his college years: he found lots of coaches advising him to jump “the orthodox way” and focusing on teaching him the straddle technique. He kept practising both ways, until the day that results made clear that he performed better using his own style. His coach Berny Wagner gave up trying to correct him and began helping him to refine his technique. The path to the Olympic gold medal was cleared and the biggest revolution in high jump had just started. Have a look: https://lnkd.in/e3mq3ADm What can we business coaches and executives learn from Dick Fosbury and his sport coaches? Do we have the courage to let our talents unleash their potential in the way they prefer, or do we force them to adopt “the established way”? Do we have the objectivity to assess performance and recognise when somebody has better results using a different approach and not doing as we are used to? Are we humble enough to let our beliefs aside and truly support them to refine their innovation? Performance, in sports and business, comes from hard work, autonomy and trust. What do you think #PhilippeEscoffier, #FrancescoFattori, #JordiTorroella, #JeanRaphaelHetier, #AliceSkeers, #ValerieBourbon, #MarcoParacciani, #MarkHartshorne, #EugeniaFornieri, #MaudVimeux, #CaterinaDeRossi, #SarahNutolo, #PaolodeFabritiis, #KateKavanagh, #DervalBlenheim, #CiaranCondren, #CIaraBurke?

Cant blame ya, T! I did the sammmmmeeee thing. Secured the bag and shortly thereafter made a huge announcement to the world with my baby boy. The feeling of your firstborn is indescribable. Kind of like the reaction my wife and I had when I got a product hit out of a case with this 2021 National Treasures Trevor Lawrence 1 of 1 RPA 🤑 We're over here like,"...soooo...baby #2?!" 🤣 (For those of you who are either just catching on, or haven't quite paid attention yet...yes...the collectibles market has seen significant uptick in recent years. We saw a spike around 2008/2009...and then a "Covid Era" growth rate unparalleled by majority of asset driven industries. Once a childhood hobby, sports cards have become a necessary commodity in many investor's portfolios.) The card depicted in this post came out of a case of one of Panini 3 most upper echelon NBA/NFL licenced products, National Treasures FOTL (First Off the Line). At the time I bought in (close to, if not on, product release day) these cases were selling to the consumer market at premium rates of $28,000 and higher per 4 box case. Each box contains 8 cards, making a case only 32 cards in total. National Treasures boasts a significant portion of the top 10 most valuable cards ever sold. SPECIFICALLY, the hunt surrounds the infamous "Logoman" & "True" RPA (rookie patch autographs). With every card being serial numbered 1 to 99, there a limited cases released each year. 2021 saw a significant demand with 6 or so starting QBs being drafted first round. Some panned out and others have some work to do. In the hobby space, we call the process of determining which will be which early on "prospecting". Some of the names from that class include Trevor Lawrence, Zach Wilson, Mac Jones, Justin Fields, Ja'marr Chase, and many others. To no surprise, similar to athlete salaries, in NFL products you are soecifically chasing top QBs and T Law proved himself to be the top of his draft class. Another well recognized sales comp from the same product was Trevor Lawrence's NFL Shield 1 of 1 that sold for $336,000 by Goldin in August of 2022. Ken Goldin is far from a stranger to being behind some of the highest sales in sports collectibles and was nominated for an Emmy for his Netflix Series "King of Collectibles". Season 2 out now. 🫡 ⚠️📈📊STAY TUNED: Frank DiNote (the man in charge of private sales at Goldin) and I have been working on something for quite some time now that will be big news for TCA. As soon as semantics are ironed out...you MIGHT just see one of those before mentioned "Logoman" cards hit their premier auction soon. 🤫🤫🤫
Congrats to that man T-Law! First on his $275MM future with the Jacksonville Jaguars ... But more importantly on having a lil one on the way!!! Can't blame ya, T!...I did the sammmeeee thing....secured the bag....and very shortly thereafter had a big announcement for the world. 😇

Find the Horseshoe! This week, I had the pleasure of spending time with the #Greenscapesfla team out of Naples, Florida, when #HeatherPruchansky mentioned that her horse had lost a shoe. What began as a simple horseshoe search for her horse Danny turned into a full-blown competition, as any dignified salesperson would make it. We arrived at 7 a.m. sharp, ready for the search. The goal was to find the missing horseshoe, and the stakes were high: the one who did not find the horseshoe had to buy breakfast. There were some real lessons to be learned today. First, play by your own rules. My competitor, Heather, arrived ten minutes before me and had already devised a strategy. It was no surprise that her preparedness and initiative-taking approach gave her a significant edge. This experience reminded me of some of the most valuable lessons in sales: 1. Preparation is Key: Arriving early and having a plan can make all the difference. Just as Heather did, being prepared can put you ahead of others. 2. Create Your Own Rules: Don’t just follow the established norms; think outside the box and set your own path to your success. 3. Stay Competitive: Treat every challenge as a competition and have fun! It is no wonder Heather continually achieves, whether as a girls high school basketball coach, a superstar business developer at Greenscapes, or mastering the art of sleuthing for horseshoes. #greenscapesfl #sales #strategy #discipline #sperber

Why It Matters

I recently had the pleasure of meeting some incredible teens who are diving into the lobster industry under the mentorship of one of the owners of Luke's Lobster. In Maine, where all lobstermen operate as sole proprietors, these young individuals are acquiring a skill set that promises to serve them well throughout their lives. It’s inspiring to see the next generation gaining hands-on experience in such a vital and historic trade. Keep up the good work, @Ben from @lukeslobster! #blacktravelmaine
