Renewables and storage are key to meeting rising energy demand, with battery storage enabling renewable energy availability. Collaboration with experienced, innovative partners is essential for navigating this new era of clean energy.
It was a pleasure to chat with Vijay V. Vaitheeswaran at #EconSustainability last week, where we explored the importance of power and the impact it has on the broader economy. During our conversation, we highlighted the significant surge in energy demand across America today and how NextEra Energy Resources is strategically positioned to power this growth. Renewables and storage are set to play a pivotal role in meeting this demand. They offer an unbeatable combination of being clean, cost-effective, and the quickest to deploy. I’m particularly excited about battery storage, as it enables the shifting of renewable generation to the times when it is needed most. Looking ahead, industry estimates suggest we will triple our renewables and storage capacity in the next seven years compared to the past seven—a staggering increase! It’s evident that there’s a profound shift happening in how we collectively think about clean energy. Less than a year ago, these technologies were being deployed predominantly to replace aging or retiring plants. We now have entered a new paradigm for the power sector in which we are both transforming the country's energy mix while also meeting the significant new demand from new manufacturing, industrial activities and growth in the technology sector.
