Scientific Integrity and Flawed Advisory Committee Peer Reviews In the latest Toxic Truth Blog post (https://lnkd.in/guFiANTw) we examine how the US EPA's flawed charges to the NASEM committee reviewing the IRIS formaldehyde assessment demonstrate a lack of scientific integrity. It's a little known fact undue influence by an Agency, including limiting the scope of a peer review charge, is actually one of the more prevalent ways of violating scientific integrity principles. Peer review of Agency science is necessary to ensure we avoid bad science and bad policies. The peer review process is part of our democratic process to ensure the rigor of the science Agencies will use as the foundation of their policies. The Biden-Harris White House is pretty clear that hindering the independence of scientific peer reviews is a violation of scientific integrity principles. Find out more, and see how Congress could fix this at the Toxic Truth Blog! #scientificintegrity #science #chemicals #riskassessment

“Bioethics, to me, encompasses aspects of our lives beyond the clinical, medical, and research spheres,” writes Columbia University Bioethics program alum Meryl Selig ('23SPS, Bioethics). “Studying and applying ethics requires us to observe, reflect, think, and act in accordance with principles that seek to help people and communities thrive, reduce harm to others, and help provide better access to care and well-being.” In a new blog post, Meryl shares how the program impacted her personal and professional life. https://bit.ly/3yPPSnF

Demand for laboratory and R&D space remains well above pre-pandemic levels, making it an attractive opportunity for developers. Developers new to the life sciences market or those looking to expand outside the traditional biotechnology hubs need to understand - and be able to communicate to concerned stakeholders - how biological hazards are assessed and mitigated. Biosafety oversight is governed by local, state and federal regulations and guidelines, as well as institutional rules. Regional regulations will vary so knowing which ones apply to the specific facility is essential. In recognition of #Biosafety_BiosecurityMonth we’re providing this white paper that gives developers the foundation they need to understand #biosafety risks and oversight. #biosafety_biosecuritymonth #propertydeveloper #lifesciences #propertydevelopment

#fridayfun So, I've had quite a few people lately tell me how impressed they are with my scientific knowledge. Specifically, my grasp of chromatin remodeling. And honestly? I'm flattered! But also... all I know about chromatin science comes from this one short video. Turns out, repeating what's in the video (and channeling a little of our team brilliance) is enough to convince some folks I might have a PhD in biology or chemistry. 😂 Who knew? It just goes to show you, a little learning can go a long way (especially when it comes from such a reputable source)! Now, if you'll excuse me, I'm off to update my LinkedIn profile... 😉 #LifelongLearner #TopScienceVoice #WomenInScience
