Today, I had the pleasure of leading a session for Women Who Rule at Gies College of Business - University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign on planning a strategic and smooth exit from a company. We covered key areas such as: ✅ Assessing personal reasons for leaving and aligning them with long-term career goals. ✅ Developing a detailed transition plan to ensure a seamless handoff of responsibilities. ✅ Reviewing financial and legal considerations, including the importance of consulting legal counsel for complex agreements. One of the most valuable takeaways was recognizing the power of planning an exit that maintains professional relationships, protects your interests, and prepares you for future opportunities. By creating a roadmap for your transition, you can confidently navigate this critical career step. I want to share a special thank you to our members who shared their experiences and exit strategies in the safe space of our weekly fellowship. If you’re considering a career move, don’t underestimate the importance of reflection, preparation, and communication. A well-planned exit sets you up for long-term success! #CareerGrowth #CareerTransition #ProfessionalDevelopment #WomenInBusiness #MBALeaders #WomenWhoRule

Executive Coach and Speaker 🧠 Helping smart women who hate office politics get promoted and better paid without throwing anyone under the bus
*UPDATED LINK below ⬇️* Every day I talk to kind, intelligent, and frighteningly accomplished professional women who feel like deer in headlights when it comes to talking about their accomplishments at work. The socialized fear of looking greedy or selfish rears its head. "I don't want to step on toes." "I don't know how to advocate for myself." "I don't want to sound like a self-aggrandizing a$$hole like you-know-who." They tell me. But here's the thing. Articulating your value is NOT rocket science, and it's not a secret that's privileged for the few. To do this well -- in a way that serves your career growth AND gets you thanked by decision-makers (yes, you read that right) -- takes about five surprisingly simple questions. In my day job as an executive coach, I ask these simple, straightforward questions again and again and again to the kind, intelligent, and accomplished women I work with. It's your turn. I'll walk you through these questions. Come to my FREE and open workshop THIS FRIDAY. I will help you articulate your value in a clear and non-gross way that will make you feel taller and prouder. This article had some great insights for me, now as I enter the midpoint of my career. I especially liked question number 3, which I think can be an uncomfortable question for many (especially professional women). This quote from David Viscott is great: “The purpose of life is to discover your gift. The work of life is to develop it. The meaning of life is to give your gift away.”
6 Questions to Ask at the Midpoint of Your Career

There’s a reason why women only apply for jobs when they meet 100% of the requirements whilst men go for it and secure jobs when they hit only 60%👇 BUT NO ONE TALKS ABOUT THIS! It’s unnatural to you to be pushy, loud and to oversell your skills and abilities because that's how you've been brought up as a girl. And this creates a major disadvantage for you at work! Because here, the quiet ones get overlooked, the humble ones don't get the best salary and the ones that work extra hours to get the validation from their managers don't get the promotion but more and more work delivered to their desk. SO IT'S ABOUT TIME THAT WE CHANGE THIS! In this 60 minute Masterclass I'll share with your what you can do to focus your energy on the right things at work, to make sure your contributions gets seen by the right people! Using proven strategies and growth hacks! YOU'LL LEARN: 🚀What your natural advantages are as a woman in corporate - to help you play to your strengths 🚀What your male colleagues are doing differently to get promoted - and things you can learn from them 🚀What you can do moving forward to get seen and promoted So what are you waiting for? Go and save your seat! 👇 https://lnkd.in/evkTmtRb

Why/why not 3. The Imposter Syndrome *Does this play a role in how Women climb the corporate ladder? *Share your experience and how you worked around it 4. Working extra hard to prove ourselves *Avoiding softball at all costs to get to the ‘big boys’ arena. Discuss 5. The place of sticking to your guns no matter what *As women/mothers, what would make us not sustain our resolve (no in this case) *Does guilt play a part in our response to work pressures 6. Do you think the rules in corporate leadership for women/mothers should be different or same as those for men? *Share examples of corporates that demonstrate a level playing ground for both men and women “Our system puts the career clock and the female biological clock in direct conflict.” ― Indra Nooyi, My Life in Full: Work, Family, and Our Future Olivia OkelloChristabel Mtanyi CPAEsther MuriithiLeanne KamauJoyce SangEverlyne KongoroEvelyne WanjohiDoreen Mwihaki
