Remarkable to consider that just a short few years ago we had almost no batteries connected to the Australian Grid. Now they have grown in number, size and capability to form one of the cornerstones of enabling more renewable energy to be connected in stable and reliable way.

In a net zero future, reports highlight the crucial role of variable renewable energy (VRE) in meeting our energy needs. In Australia, a blend of solar and wind power is projected to play a significant part in generating electricity. “The growing demand for renewables requires grid integration The energy transition is changing the landscape of electricity generation. As decarbonization drives RES demand, RESs are expected to account for 45 to 50 percent of the global power supply by 2030 and 60 to 70 percent by 2040.2 With such booming demand, RES installed capacity could grow nine times from 2020 to 2050. The transition to RES, coupled with economic growth, will likely cause electricity to grow rapidly.3 Power grids will need to expand to meet the increasing demand for electricity and renewable energy: to achieve net-zero emissions by 2050, countries would need to double their investment in transmission lines and other infrastructure to €550 billion per year by 2030.” #transitionfinance #impactinvestment #sustainablefinance #infrastructure #energy #energystability #griddevelopment
