We attended the Housing Industry Link North-West today, which brought together industry professionals in the housing sector to find innovative solutions towards achieving net zero in the North West region. We enjoyed participating in engaging panel discussions at the event. Our very own Lisa Bunting talked about the need for flexibility in the energy transition to support the grid and how consumers can benefit from demand side response, using real examples of how social housing companies can engage today. David Boynton emphasised the necessity of taking the supply chain and residents on a net zero education journey, as well as addressing the need for retrofitting social housing to enhance energy efficiency and contribute to meeting net-zero targets. #EnergyTransition #DemandSideResponse #SocialHousing #Sustainability #NetZero

Education is a key theme within any awareness week, but especially #NetZeroWeek due to the urgency and scale of the challenge we’re facing. 📖 One aspect we’re passionate about is sharing industry best practice, which we believe we’re leaders in when it comes to retrofit decarbonisation. An example of this is the work we’re currently completing for the Matrix Housing Partnership across the South West, Midlands and Southern England working with seven individual clients, we’re improving 905 social housing properties and the lives of more than 1750 people. Better still, 1.6 million kilogrammes of CO2 emissions will be saved each year as a result of the work. 🌱 Follow the link below or read the project profile to learn more about the scheme and how large-scale residential retrofit decarbonisation is being done. ⬇️ https://lnkd.in/gRBWtC4x #RetrofitDecarbonisation #Housing #Sustainability #NetZero

🌿 Embracing Change: The Energy Transition in Latrobe Valley 🌿 The Latrobe Valley in Gippsland is undergoing a remarkable transformation as it shifts from traditional energy sources to more sustainable alternatives. This transition not only reflects the vision of the Council for a greener and more resilient future but also addresses the concerns of the community while bringing the regional area together in unity. Transcend Managed Services are proud to be working with Latrobe City Council and Latrobe Valley Authority and are showcasing their case study at Morwell Innovation Centre tomorrow. Partnerships are cornerstone to growth. For decades, the Latrobe Valley has been synonymous with coal-fired power generation, playing a significant role in Australia's energy landscape. However, as the world moves towards cleaner and renewable energy sources, the Valley has embraced this change with determination and innovation. The transition to renewable energy not only aligns with the Council's vision for a sustainable future but also demonstrates a commitment to reducing carbon emissions and mitigating climate change. This shift has not been without its challenges, and the concerns of the community have been at the forefront of the transition process. The impact on local jobs, economies, and livelihoods has been a key consideration, prompting stakeholders to collaborate and find solutions that benefit both the environment and the community. Through open dialogue, engagement, and collaboration, the community has been actively involved in shaping the transition, ensuring that their voices are heard and their needs are met. What is truly inspiring is how this energy transition has brought the regional area together in unity. Despite differing perspectives and interests, stakeholders have come together to work towards a common goal of a sustainable and prosperous future for the Latrobe Valley. This shared vision has fostered a sense of community pride, resilience, and innovation, driving positive change and creating new opportunities for growth and development. As we witness the transformation taking place in the Latrobe Valley, let us celebrate the power of adaptation, collaboration, and unity in driving positive change. By embracing innovation, sustainability, and community engagement, we can create a brighter future for generations to come and inspire others to follow in our footsteps towards a more sustainable and inclusive world. #EnergyTransition #Sustainability #CommunityEngagement #Innovation #Unity #LatrobeValley

The journey to sustainable energy and transportation involves more than technology – it's about people and communities. Enlisting the aid of Community-Based Organizations (CBOs) is one way to raise awareness of program benefits and ensure low-income, disadvantaged, rural and tribal communities’ challenges and experiences are reflected in program design. CSE's Fabiola (Fabi) Lao, MPA discusses the importance of CBOs and how to compensate them for their crucial role in advancing clean energy and transportation. https://lnkd.in/gdpjP5j3

The #privaterentedsector has been slow to transition towards energy efficiency measures and retrofits that enable net zero goals of the UK. Various barriers like unavailability of finance options, lack of policy instruments and dearth of useful information impede the shift. With this sector making up almost 20% of UK households, special emphasis is required to support this movement. Fueled by Innovate UK support, we are excited to have already started work on developing an end-to-end solution for the private rented sector along with 12 partners. We look forward to the opportunities of shared learning and solution building through the #LetZero project. #waystonetzero #greeninghousingstock #decarbonisationprecedents #solutionsforabetterworld https://lnkd.in/eYdB6-uW

Yesterday, we announced $4.3M in five projects through the Greener Neighbourhoods Pilot Program and Energy Innovation Program to accelerate deep energy retrofits. This includes funding for the EnviroCentre’s Future Homes Accelerator to continue driving deep energy retrofits in social housing across eastern Ontario, supporting the adoption of net-zero technologies in affordable housing. EnviroCentre’s work demonstrates the power of retrofits, replacing traditional furnaces with electric heat pumps, improving insulation, and installing advanced heat recovery ventilation systems. With an average 42% energy reduction and a significant cut in emissions, this project is setting a new benchmark for affordable housing retrofits. Canada’s buildings sector is the third-largest source of greenhouse gas emissions, with over two-thirds of the buildings that will exist in 2050 already built. Retrofitting these buildings is essential for improving energy efficiency, reducing emissions, and saving households money.
