**Honored Beyond Words** 🙏...Totally surprised. Dr. MarkAlain Déry, DO, MPH, FACOI and I are deeply humbled and grateful to share that our radio show, " Get Checked. Get Fit. GET MOVING!" has been officially archived by the **United States Library of Congress** through the **American Archive of Public Broadcasting (AAPB)**, following the **Grassroot Radio Conference**. This recognition underscores the importance of the work we’ve done in public health and community conversations—making a lasting impact and preserving it for future generations. This isn’t just about a show. It’s about the voices, the stories, and the shared moments that have touched lives and helped to build healthier communities. It’s about working together to ensure education, health, and well-being are accessible to all. The American Archive of Public Broadcasting (AAPB) is a collaborative effort between the Library of Congress and WGBH Boston. Less than a month to go Huge shout out to AACBT(Ltd) for inviting me. Come and hear me and some of the incredible keynotes bring you right up to date with the latest research. I’ll be presenting on why CPD is pointless and non-evidence based. But more importanly the talk will be on deliberate practice and will align with the new training standards for psychologists. Final note for students and early career folk - we have all been there going to your first conference and not knowing anyone. It can be super intimidating saying hello to someone whose work you have read or know through reputation. It was an immense honour to be invited to chair this panel (thank you Imogen O'Rorke), reflecting on the role of media, advertising and brands in shifting the narrative around the climate and nature crisis, part of the Fleet Street Quarter's Climate Festival, part of London Climate Action Week. Lisa Merrick-Lawless, Silvia Pavoni, Richard Huntington and Sebastian Munden, you were incredible guests, and I very much hope that this talk is made real through action, in the weeks and months ahead. Some of the things that I'm taking away to reflect on, include: - The necessity of accountability and scrutiny, to uncover what's not being said, and is consequential for the world - The balance of carrots and sticks; being explicit about positive opportunities, AND recognising the value of a regulator that isn't afraid to ask questions - Recognising that "done is better than perfect", when it comes to climate action, and that while there is a balance of "thinking before doing to much, but doing before thinking too much", in this industry in particular, we've spent a lot of time in an intellectual space, and that needs to change - Is it time to ask ourselves what we consent to be complicit in? Do we need to be honest about the work that we do, and the harm that is intentionally or unintentionally done, while, at the same time, recognising the immense contribution strategy and creativity have to make in responding to crisis - Being clear about where we need to be responsible as individuals, and when we need to recognise the greater systemic conditions that constrain the impact our individual choices can make, holding businesses, regulators and politicians to account - Avoiding the nebulous ideas, and focusing on cultivating desire for a society that doesn't over-consume by design. Avoiding off-putting earnestness, by making regenerative choices easier, and better in all senses - And finally, bringing nature into the room, and recognising that changes in our emotional state or inner landscape, can help us shift how we act in the world I shared an excerpt from Swan by the wonderful nature poet, Mary Oliver, as a way to close our conversation. I hope her words move you as much as they move me 🌿 What can I say that I have not said before? So I’ll say it again. The leaf has a song in it. Stone is the face of patience. Inside the river there is an unfinishable story and you are somewhere in it and it will never end until all ends. Take your busy heart to the art museum and the chamber of commerce but take it also to the forest. The song you heard singing in the leaf when you were a child is singing still. I am of years lived, so far, seventy-four, and the leaf is singing still.
