This past quarter I have learnt 3 new concepts in databases that I think can be revolutionary in future enterprise applications: 1. The 1½ tier architecture pioneered by MotherDuck DB that allows you to join the database in the cloud with the DuckDB #OLAP database running inside the browser as a WebAssembly and show you reports directly in the browser. 2. The ability to leverage #LLMs, especially #SLM to fetch values like "summarise" or classify, etc. inside scalar SQL queries itself. Again, from MotherDuck folks. 3. Continuous Query, like the one via Cypher Query Language of the Drasi open-source project of Microsoft, that updates the answer/report for the database query as the data gets updated in the database by events. This could be very valuable if you want a real-time dashboard of, say, live chat, or event handling & automation (ITSM).
