The @ Danish Design Award is back! After a year's hiatus, we're ready to celebrate the most innovative and inspiring design solutions that are necessary to create a positive change in the world. As a member of this year’s jury, I’m extremely excited to see what design solutions you’ve been working on! We've replaced the traditional design categories with five new design values, crucial to creating sustainable design solutions in a world where complex challenges require new ways of thinking. Personally, I hope to see design solutions that emphasize the value “Do no harm”. This is due to the critical need for designers and innovators – indeed, for all of humanity – to develop in alignment with and respect for planetary boundaries. The fundamental question must be: how can we create without causing harm? How can we create to regenerate? We look forward to seeing how you interpret the values in your design solution. We’re certain you'll blow us away! Learn more about the five values and submit your design solution here: https://lnkd.in/deYR3XB3 The Danish Design Award is a collaboration between @ DDC – Danish Design Center and @ Design denmark. #danishdesignaward #danishdesignaward24 #design #award #sustainability

Using empathy as a design tool is a powerful way to create buildings with purpose. We believe that empathy in design gives power to place, provides equality, comfort, joy, and gives mutual respect to earth and user. It leads to innovation that neither client nor architect could have produced solo. It preserves heritage and celebrates history and empowers humanity to be better. Using empathy is how we design differently from others. You can read more at our blog here: https://lnkd.in/e-xxuUPt #architectswithempathy #empatheticdesign

Architects and designers are not just creators of spaces and objects; they are the sculptors of experiences and contributors to societal evolution. Embracing the 'Pay it forward' ethos, we wield the power to shape environments that transcend functionality. Our designs can be catalysts for positive change, fostering inclusivity, sustainability, and overall well-being. As architects and designers, we're entrusted with the responsibility of envisioning a future that transcends the present, leaving a legacy for generations to inherit. By prioritizing thoughtful innovation over mere aesthetics, we can create spaces that enhance lives and contribute meaningfully to communities. Let's acknowledge the weight of our roles and channel our creativity towards building a world where architecture and design become agents of lasting, positive transformation—a legacy that resonates through time, leaving an indelible mark on the fabric of society. #PayItForwardDesign #SustainableSpaces #InclusiveDesign

“I think it's very important to look laterally, to see what everyone else is doing. The only way to move forward is by taking on board other people's creativity and influences." In an exclusive interview with #MuzwAaMagazine, Daniel Blaker, the creative director of London-based lighting studio Nulty+, delved into the importance of collaboration in the design industry. Blaker highlights how easy it is to become siloed in one’s daily practices and how embracing diverse perspectives and ideas can lead to significant advancements. “You'll grow stale without taking aboard other people's creativity and influences," said Blaker. "It's very important to find the time to look around and see what else is going on." 📸: Chris Hopkinson _________ This is part of our ongoing series where AHG brings you a curation of ideas on collaboration and co-creation from some of the leading thinkers and practitioners from across the globe, to highlight how #BridgingTheDesignDivide can further the fundamental cause of good design: making better products, systems, and environments for people and the planet.
