What does an architect really do? I get that question a lot. Answer is really a little bit of everything. I think most people imagine an architect drawing plans, making sure the building gets approved by the town or city that it's in, making sure it stands up, and making sure it gets built on time. Those are all part of our job really. We have a hand in just about everything that everyone on the job is doing. It's someone goes and selects plumbing fixture, making sure that the bathtub fits on the wall if someone chooses a tile. Making sure that the layout works with the size of the room or telling the contractor whether to cut the tile down or put two pieces together to make it work. All those little tiny details kind of get layered. And we really start with a master plan, which is kind of what most people picture. You know, those pretty floor plans with all the furniture beautifully laid out, the new rooms versus the old rooms, the additions versus the existing. That's really where we start. And then from there we just go deeper and deeper. We might add the information needed to get it. Government, then we might add the structural information, then we might get into the pretty stuff like how does the bathroom really look? All those real specifics just keep getting ended. And then throughout the course of construction, we're coming back. We're making sure that all the team is oriented towards the final goal, making little adjustments here and there, especially if it's a renovation, then ultimately delivering a beautiful final product.
