Empowerment Through Sport: Africa’s Boot Drive- Fundraising https://gofund.me/b4f861a1 I'm thrilled to announce the launch of our GoFundMe campaign, "Empowerment Through Sport: Africa’s Boot Drive". Our mission is to provide quality football boots to young, aspiring footballers in Malawi, using football as an empowerment tool for digital inclusion. In many parts of Africa, football is more than just a game. It's a beacon of hope, a source of community, and a platform for young people to showcase their talent. However, many of these young players don't have access to basic football gear, like boots. They play barefoot on rough terrains, which not only hampers their performance but also puts them at risk of injuries. Each pair of boots costs $12 to manufacture. This cost includes the materials, labour, to ensure that the boots are of good quality and can withstand the rough terrains where these children play. We're aiming to raise £100,000. This will allow us to buy and distribute football boots to over 5000 young players. But we can't do it alone. We need your help. By donating to our cause, you're not just buying a pair of boots; you're investing in a child's dream. You're giving them the opportunity to play the game they love without fear of injury. You're helping them take one step closer to their goal. Join us in making a difference. Creating a better, brighter future for them, and their communities.🌟 Sport is more than just sport. At One Impossible Thing we want to break down barriers that impede people from participating in sport. Redistributing preloved sports shoes to those who struggle to afford them, is our main way of doing this. But we also know that sometimes motivation is a barrier from getting out there and being active. Which is why we're involved in organising the Boxmoor Virtual Marathon! The idea is to run, bike, scoot, walk, swim or wheel your way through the 26 miles/42kms, over a ten week period. In this Olympic year, the virtual marathon starts when the Olympic Flame arrives in France on 8th May. You have until mid July to complete your marathon, so you can have your finishers medal in time for the Olympic Opening Ceremony! It’s a great challenge for families, who can get out together on their bikes or on a walk together. If you do 5kms each week, you’ll have completed your marathon by July, with time to spare! All money raised through sponsorship will ensure we can carry on with all the work we do with schools, homeless charities, refugees groups and school holiday activity camps. Once registered, you can ask families and friends to sponsor you. If you ask 10 people for £10, that’s £100 you’ve raised! Make the most of a sports-filled summer - an important read we wanted to share from our charity partners over at CHECT! Why not make the most of this year’s sport-filled summer and raise funds for CHECT? Here are just a few ideas on the different ways you can leverage some of the major sporting events this summer like the Euros, Olympics and Paralympics to create exciting and engaging fundraising opportunities: Host live viewing events – organise viewing parties for the Euros, Olympics and Paralympics. Charge an entry fee which could include a meal, or sell refreshments at a local venue. Sweepstakes – sell tickets for a sweepstakes where participants draw teams or athletes and raise funds for CHECT. Sports days – host a mini-Olympics day with a variety of sports and activities for all ages or organise a 5-a-side football tournament themed around the Euros. For more ideas or more ways you can get involved, we highly encourage you to contact the CHECT fundraising team at fundraising@chect.org.uk #CHECT #charitypartner #childhoodcancerawarenessmonth #childhoodeyecancertrust

The Football Foundation expects 2024 to be the “biggest ever year of support for grassroots clubs across #England”. One of the UK’s largest #sports charities, the organisation had a record-breaking year in 2023, during which it delivered £76 million to improve #grassroots facilities across England. It expects to exceed that figure in 2024, as it looks to hit a number of significant milestones. These include further openings of Football Foundation #PlayZones – multi-sport facilities looking to engage the four main groups facing the greatest inequalities: lower socio-economic groups; #women and #girls; ethnically diverse communities; and #disabled people and people with long-term #healthconditions. Robert Sullivan, CEO of the Football Foundation, said the organisation will provide "more great places to play than ever before" over the next 12 months. What is 𝐃𝐞𝐥𝐭𝐚 𝐀𝐜𝐚𝐝𝐞𝐦𝐢𝐞𝐬 𝐂𝐡𝐚𝐫𝐢𝐭𝐚𝐛𝐥𝐞 𝐓𝐫𝐮𝐬𝐭 (DACT)? 🤔 I posted an appeal for raffle prize donations for our 𝐃𝐀𝐂𝐓 𝐀𝐧𝐧𝐮𝐚𝐥 𝐁𝐚𝐥𝐥 a few days ago, and thought I should also share some insight into the work the charity does! 💫 𝐃𝐀𝐂𝐓 awards grants to pupils/students who attend or have attended Delta Academies Trust Academies, and assists them in meeting one of the following criteria: 🏆 𝐏𝐮𝐫𝐬𝐮𝐢𝐭 𝐨𝐟 𝐄𝐱𝐜𝐞𝐥𝐥𝐞𝐧𝐜𝐞 🌍 𝐈𝐧𝐭𝐞𝐫𝐧𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧𝐚𝐥 𝐑𝐞𝐥𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧𝐬 💼 𝐄𝐧𝐭𝐞𝐫𝐩𝐫𝐢𝐬𝐞 The key objective is to develop 𝐥𝐢𝐟𝐞𝐥𝐨𝐧𝐠 𝐥𝐞𝐚𝐫𝐧𝐢𝐧𝐠. Just a few examples of what the charity has been able to financially support... 🏕 Theo was selected to represent Humberside at the 25th 𝐖𝐨𝐫𝐥𝐝 𝐒𝐜𝐨𝐮𝐭 𝐉𝐚𝐦𝐛𝐨𝐫𝐞𝐞 in South Korea, and was required to fundraise to attend. 🎶 Olivia qualified for the 𝐃𝐚𝐧𝐜𝐞 𝐖𝐨𝐫𝐥𝐝 𝐂𝐮𝐩 2023 in Braga, Portugal. DACT funding helped towards travel and entry fees. 🏒 Wilson selected to represent Great Britain for Ball Hockey in the Under 16s 𝐈𝐧𝐭𝐞𝐫𝐧𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧𝐚𝐥 𝐒𝐭𝐫𝐞𝐞𝐭 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐁𝐚𝐥𝐥 𝐇𝐨𝐜𝐤𝐞𝐲 𝐖𝐨𝐫𝐥𝐝 𝐂𝐡𝐚𝐦𝐩𝐢𝐨𝐧𝐬𝐡𝐢𝐩𝐬 held in Czechia in 2023. DACT funding meant he could get the equipment he needed. 𝐂𝐨𝐮𝐥𝐝 𝐲𝐨𝐮/𝐲𝐨𝐮𝐫 𝐜𝐨𝐦𝐩𝐚𝐧𝐲 𝐡𝐞𝐥𝐩 𝐬𝐮𝐩𝐩𝐨𝐫𝐭 𝐃𝐀𝐂𝐓? 🤩 Please take a look at my post from earlier in the week (𝘖𝘳 𝘫𝘶𝘴𝘵 𝘴𝘦𝘯𝘥 𝘮𝘦 𝘢 𝘮𝘦𝘴𝘴𝘢𝘨𝘦). And if you'd like to read more about DACT and the case studies I've mentioned, I'll link in the comments. #charity #charityevent #lifelonglearning

CASE STUDY: SPORTS CLUBS RETAINER SUPPOR T🏉 We started working with a small rugby club in Oxfordshire where we were tasked with helping them recruit new members, improve their facilities, and provide an outreach service into their local community to be able to teach rugby in schools. 🏉Working with them to identify their strengths on the committee and understand their current reach, we helped restructure the board to make it more efficient and set the tasks they can excel in. This enabled a stronger base of support within the club, allowing for long term success. 🤝Next we worked with identifying local funders and sponsors and created a strong case of support to showcase why this club needs to grow in the community. We worked with local schools and businesses and developed a coaching outreach programme to work as a double-benefit approach - strengthening the teachings of rugby in the community, whilst promoting the club in a good light and thus getting new members. The club at the end of the 12 months had recruited an entirely new youth section, strengthened their adult section, doubled their annual membership subscription, and had secured funding in excess of £15,000 for equipment and coaching. 💸 This service for the club provided them with around a 10 x Return on Investment, and had set them up sustainably to run it themselves going forward. It Takes TWO
One of our colleagues at Compass Group UK, Maria Marta Lardo, is taking part in a 1,000 mile relay this April and May in partnership with Levy UK to raise money for ParalympicsGB. With only a few months to go until the start of the Paris 2024 Paralympic Games, the funds raised will contribute to helping ParalympicsGB athletes reach their full potential on the world stage, inspiring the nation and challenging perceptions of disability throughout the UK in the process. TWO Services has donated to help Maria and the team reach their target.
