Antimicrobial resistance (AMR) is a global issue, but the funding to fight it is not evenly distributed. Wealthier countries focus on new antibiotics, while the least-developed countries need more support for basic needs like clean water and essential antibiotics. Join us in advocating for fair funding and resources to fight AMR worldwide. 🔷 #AMResistanceFighters #AntimicrobialStewardship

It's time for a new era of ambitious global action on antimicrobial resistance (AMR). AMR occurs when bacteria, fungi or viruses change in a way that makes the drugs used to treat them ineffective. These drug-resistant infections are much harder – if not impossible – to treat and cure. They kill over a million people every year, and this is expected to increase substantially over the next two decades. Despite this, global action has remained weak and fragmented. However, we have a unique opportunity to change that this year. Political leaders must set bold targets and establish better ways to monitor evidence and progress.
