Congratulations to HLRS's Kingshuk Haldar for winning the Best Student Poster Award at IEEE HiPC 2024 - the 31st IEEE International Conference on High Performance Computing, Data, & Analytics! Kingshuk’s poster, “Identifying Focus-of-Analysis Regions in MPI-Traces Using Transfer-Efficiency Monitors,” proposes an alternate view of large MPI traces, streamlining performance analysis workflows. This achievement highlights HLRS’s commitment to advancing #HPC research and fostering young talent. Learn more about the Student Symposium at HiPC: https://lnkd.in/gFeCHMRX

📢Today (Sep 27), we will lift the curtain on asynchronous I/O during the presentation: "I/O Behind the Scenes: Bandwidth Requirements of HPC Applications With Asynchronous I/O," at Session 12 during IEEE International Conference on Cluster Computing (Cluster 2024) in Japan. 💡 Our study delves into the intricate relationship between the shared I/O bandwidth of the PFS and asynchronous I/O applications, offering novel insights into optimizing resource utilization by sparing the bandwidth of the PFS. We proposed two tools: The tracing library TMIO that provides insights about asynchronous I/O (visible and non-visible I/O) and finds the bandwidth requirements of an application. The second tool extends MPICH to limit the bandwidth at the user level (using ROMIO). As always, all of our tools are open source and publicly available on GitHub: - ⚙️TMIO: https://lnkd.in/ev6mhWuY - ⚙️ Modified MPICH: https://lnkd.in/e-mPTvz8 🚀🚀Join me to learn more about our approach and its impact on application behavior. Looking forward to discussing this topic with the HPC community! Find more about the cluster24 here: https://lnkd.in/er9u2aq3 #Cluster2024 #HPC #I/OOptimization #AsynchronousI/O #BehindTheScenes

Information Foraging Theory: "an approach to the analysis of human activities involving information access technologies" (Pirolli & Card, 1995). It is a theory that applies how people take in information and choose what to do with that information. The application is broad, particularly in research poster presentations. Something I learned at #ArkansasSRI https://lnkd.in/gNjeQk-N Pirolli, P., & Card, S. (1995). Information foraging in information access environments.
