We are proud to celebrate an important milestone in the commissioning of Canada's first low footprint parking at @eveparkldn on October 1st.
By incorporating the parking towers into the structure of the Eve Park condo buildings, s2e Technologies Inc. was able to supply parking spaces for each residential unit, while avoiding the usual alternatives of a concrete parkade or a surface parking lot. The positive impacts include better placemaking for social connections, less in the way of summer heat-island effects, and better care of aquatic eco-systems that are stressed when summer rain showers run off hot pavement and into streams.
With R&D funding support from NRCAN, s2e used the EVE Park installation to pioneer an approach to EV charging in the towers. Every EVE Park resident with a parking spot will be provided with their own charging cable once they have purchased an electric vehicle. This matters because in Net-Zero EVE Park, s2e set out to build a home where people could ratchet down their climate forcing emissions.
The towers save space, provides an easy on-ramp to electric vehicle transportation, and provides a series of environmental and social benefits that are precluded with traditional approaches to parking.
Residents live in a park like setting, not a parking lot.

Can we fix an energy hungry brick veneer project home?
How do we retain the modest scale and value of a three storey walk up apartment block, but also make it energy efficient, comfortable and fit for inner city living in the 21st century and can this be part of the affordable housing solution?
Embodied carbon in an existing building has very high value especially if the original building is modest in scale and good. Even better we can lock it away with the addition of predominantly bio based materials for another generation or two.
