🌏 Household and personal care products are central to our daily lives and generate approximately $700 billion in annual revenues. 🍃 Where do we stand worldwide with SDG Goal 15: Life on land? According to current figures: - 1 million out of 8 million animal and plant species are threatened with extinction. - 75% of the most biodiverse areas are in developing and emerging countries. - For 1/3 of humans, forests are an important basis of existence. Yvonne Zwick, Chairwoman of B.A.U.M. e.V. - Netzwerk für nachhaltiges Wirtschaften says: "Nearly 100 million net hectares of forest have been lost in the last two decades, and the global risk of species extinction has increased with each decade since 1993. If SDG 15 is not achieved, about 80 percent of all other SDGs will also be at risk, for example food security, clean water or combating climate change. Without preserving tropical forests, the 1.5-degree target cannot be achieved. Sometimes, humanity doesn't learn its lessons because we choose to look the other way, expecting miracles. We often complicate things, even when the solution is staring us in the face. Consider this: If you need a bucket of water and a bar of soap to wash a bucket of clothes, what happens when the amount of clothes increases but water availability decreases? Now, think about this: Decades ago, we had a certain population and industrial activity with a specific amount of forest cover and biodiversity. Over the years, forest cover and biodiversity have sharply declined, while population and industrial activities have grown multifold. Where do the excess carbon emissions go? Got it?
