#HBM3E/HBM4, set off the whole scene! #HBM has become the most delicious piece of cake in the current competition in the storage industry. Recently, #TSMC announced that it would combine N12FFC+ and N5 process technologies to produce basic bare chips for HBM4, prepare for HBM 4 expansion, and expand CoWoS advanced packaging capacity several times, just to meet the industry's high demand for HBM. The three major storage manufacturers are also constantly dynamic. Previously, #SK Hynix, #Samsung, and #Micron all stated that HBM production capacity has been sold out in the past two years. Recently, Samsung and SK Hynix have stated that in order to meet demand, they will convert more than 20% of DRAM production lines to HBM production lines. With the continuous advancement of HBM3E and HBM4, the industry ecology has changed, and the three major storage manufacturers are more closely connected with TSMC than ever before.

ChipStory 14 - I've Got the Next Dance - FinFET As we approach nanometer devices, the invention of FinFETs resurrected Moore's law. To better understand the differences, I will use 3D models of conventional MOSFETs and FinFETs. We will get to know Dr. Digh too! --------- I am doing a new experiment in the CMOS Analog IC design class at IIT Bombay this semester. At the end of each class, I spend a few minutes talking about ChipStory - Chip History. I am trying to give the students a perspective on how we got where we are, since the beginning of the transistor. It's my way of paying gratitude to the heroes of this exponential revolution.
