Instead of doing the typical corporate Father's Day social media post, I wanted to create something that felt relatable and told a story. I asked Chinook Winds team members to share photos of themselves with their kids to showcase the dads of the company. A handful of current employee's parents worked at the casino, so it was great to show the company culture through these photos. The Highland (Scottish Gaelic: Bò Ghàidhealach; Scots: Heilan coo), Bos taurus Linnaeus, 1758, Family Bovidae, is a Scottish breed of rustic cattle known for its long horns and shaggy coat. Originating in the Scottish Highlands and Western Islands, it's a hardy breed capable of enduring harsh weather conditions. The first herd-book was established in 1885 CE, combining two types: a smaller, usually black island type, and a larger, usually dun mainland type. Primarily raised for beef, Highland cattle have also been exported to various countries. Highland cattle have eyes positioned on the sides of their heads, which gives them a wide field of vision, though not a full 360 degrees. This adaptation helps them be more aware of their surroundings to detect predators. In addition to their excellent vision, they are also known for their hardiness, ability to graze on rough terrain, and their long, thick coats that provide insulation against cold weather. Highland cattle are known for their intelligence and calm temperament. They are often considered easy to handle due to their docile nature. Additionally, their long horns are not just for show; they use them to dig through snow to find food during winter. Their shaggy coats are unique among cattle breeds, providing excellent protection against harsh weather, which reduces the need for shelter. Their beef is also prized for its quality, being lean and flavourful. What remarkable creatures!
