Having to hide who you are can be extremely exhausting. That is why #TeamBSH fosters a culture that celebrates diversity, equity, and inclusion. By doing this, we create a safe work environment, where every individual can be their true selves and thrive. During our Diversity Days, Víctor Lorenzo and FRANCK OLIVES, core members of our LGBTQ+ employee network "Colors of BSH", hosted the session "Being Me at Work." Their goal was to raise awareness about the challenges faced by the LGBTQ+ community and cultivate allyship and openness among colleagues. 🌈 They shared actions that individuals can take to embrace their authentic selves at the workplace, such as coming out to trusted colleagues or mentioning their partner when discussing their leisure. Allies are crucial in supporting LGBTQ+ individuals, standing in solidarity with them. Being an ally is an ongoing process of learning, challenging biases, and taking action. Allyshifts is about acknowledging that allyship isn't a destination but an ongoing journey of growth and understanding. We recognize that not everyone knows how to be an effective ally, and that's okay. That's why, this Pride Month, we're inviting you to join us in shifting up one notch on the allyship scale to help drive greater LGBTQ+ inclusion. How can we do this? Let’s start by acknowledging where we are, and commit to an action, big or small, that shifts our allyship to the next level. 🏳️🌈 As Pride Month comes to a close, it's essential to remember that celebrating and supporting the LGBTQ+ community shouldn't be confined to just one month. At the start of Pride Month, I shared a blog post about inclusively celebrating LGBTQ+ history and achievements, along with recommendations for ongoing inclusion efforts year-round. According to a recent study by the Human Rights Campaign, nearly half of LGBTQ+ employees remain closeted at work. This highlights the ongoing need for inclusive workplaces where everyone feels safe and valued. Pridemonth is a monumental time of the year. It is a time to remember the remarkable equal rights journey the LGBTQ+ community has fought for decades. And it is a month where I personally take some time to reflect on how far we’ve come as a country. Pride Month also serves as a reminder of the importance of respect and inclusivity in all aspects of our lives.
