In wrapping up another lesson of teaching young karate students, I felt so inspired by their attitude and development regardless of their grade. Their openness and eagerness to improve is truly remarkable, fuelling my own passion for teaching. “The mediocre teacher tells. The good teacher explains. The superior teacher demonstrates. The great teacher inspires.” ~ William Arthur Ward .#precepts #livingasuccessfullife #successmindset #successtips #martialartstraining #growthanddevelopment #growthstrategy #successmentor #strategydevelopment #reachyourpotential #unlockpotential #fullpotential #mind #philosophy #potential #mindsetshift #mindfullymade #selfhelptips #achieveit

What is Zachary’s karate club? It is a network of 34 members of a university karate club, which was studied by anthropologist Wayne W. Zachary in the 1970. The study documented the interactions between club members outside of the club over a period of three years. During this time, a conflict arose between the club’s instructor and administrator, leading to the club splitting into two factions. Zachary used this network to study the flow of information and the resulting split, applying the Ford–Fulkerson algorithm to predict which members would join each faction. His predictions were accurate for all but one member. The karate club graph has become a popular example for understanding community structure in networks and is often used to demonstrate algorithms in graph theory and network analysis. The data set representing the interactions is publicly available and is frequently used in academic research and teaching to illustrate concepts of network analysis. #networkanalysis #graphdatabase

When considering which fighting style to train in for self-defense, consider the following questions: 1 - What kind of athletic ability is required to learn the art/method, and do you possess that level of ability? For example, if considering tae kwon do or karate, do you have the flexibility to deliver high kicks? 2 - Is this geared for sport, art, or real-world violence? 3 - Has this been pressure-tested, and proven in real combat? 4 - Do you enjoy training in this art/method enough that you will practice consistently in order to develop real, solid skill? 5 - Will training in this art/method maximize the amount of fighting skill you develop with a minimal amount of training? Or does it require 10 years of long practice just to get decent at fighting?

I help fill the gap in quality structured literacy professional development and instructional coaching for K-3rd Primary Educators
Hey Elementary Principals! Did you know that even in an activity like karate, consistency plays a crucial role in development? I learned this firsthand when my daughter participated in a karate aftercare program, but inconsistency in her classes started negatively impacting her skills. This made me realize the importance of regular practice and dedication, whether it's in karate, piano, swimming, or dance. And it got me thinking about the challenges principals face in providing consistent professional development opportunities. Just like my daughter's karate skills suffered from inconsistency, educators struggle when professional development lacks continuity. That's why I'm excited to invite you to our upcoming masterclass: Literacy Kickoff™️ Game Plan: How to Transform Your Elementary School into a Literacy Leader! I'll be sharing insights and strategies on fostering a culture of literacy excellence within your school. From common mistakes to the four stages outlined in the Literacy Kickoff™️ Game Plan framework. When: Monday, February 26th at 7pm ET Where: Zoom Cost: Free! Hope to see you there! Register today! #mequelboldenconsulting #structuredliteracy #scienceofreading #elementaryprincipals

Workshops for talented teams on management, productivity, and culture. Creator of Joyfully Managed Worklife, the small group program to get organized at work. Author of popular weekly newsletter with 9k+ subscribers.
This is a picture with my son and his taekwondo master. I shared it in a workshop last week I was leading about onboarding new staff members. When my son began taking taekwondo classes, his first experience wasn’t a group class. It was a one-on-one lesson with Master Han to learn the basics - the etiquette, the uniform, the jargon. This wasn’t something special we that only my son got. All of the students are onboarded this way. Let me tell you that this extra attention early on made a huge difference for his experience as a student and his retention (he’s testing for his advanced yellow belt next week). Onboarding is the same. Give focused attention to your new people but don’t make it feel like drinking from a fire house of links and documents. Give them what they need and then carefully drip out more as they continue on in your organization.
