Why is sequestration good for your Net Zero targets?
To sequester something is to remove or separate it. From a Net Zero point of view, it means trapping an atmospheric chemical and its isolation in a natural or artificial storage area. And we are proud to say that our concrete bricks are excellent at doing it.
That’s right, from the moment our bricks are manufactured they start to absorb CO2 and will continue to absorb CO2 from the atmosphere around them whilst in-situ. Once the CO2 is captured within the brick, it remains and cannot escape, even if the product is crushed at the end of its lifecycle.
Using calculations governed by BS16757 and based on a conservative lifecycle of 60 years for these calculations, each square metre of our concrete bricks will absorb 4.2kg of CO2 over this timescale.
