Port, Vessel and Subsea Opportunities in the Celtic Sea 🌊 🚢 Current readiness There is an active marine industry already operating in Wales and the South West. 34 companies have been identified as having skills in the sector: 28 vessel operators and 6 subsea engineering companies. The majority operate fleets of small vessels suitable for a wide range of uses that could cover towing, crew transfer, survey and some heavy lifts ops in shallow water. However, there is slight concern over which port facilities within the locality will be suitable for the construction stage due to depth of berth, crane capabilities, height of clearance and crucially, the port side lay down space needed with Port Talbot and Falmouth being the sites showing the most readiness. Innovation is also changing the way vessels are being used offshore. 🤖 And, there are a number of companies in the region with existing expertise in remotely operated vessels (ROVs) and autonomous/unmanned surface vessels which are being increasingly used for site investigation and inspection operations. Site operators will also likely decide to use service operating vessels (SOVs) during maintenance periods to host crew on site for a period of time and avoid a daily three-hour commute to site. There is capability in the region for ship builders to design and construct a vessel with this type of specification. Or, there is an additional opportunity for companies such as A&P group or Mainstay Marine to repurpose vessels as SOVs. However, many existing companies in the UK offer CSOV/SOV vessels with some constructing ESOVs and greener options for transfer. Other opportunities include regional ports working with vessel owners, operators and site developers to collaborate on charters and secure deals. The biggest developers, including Orsted, RWE and blade manufacturers, Siemens Gamesa, are all now securing ships on charters that last up to several years. I would anticipate over the next 5-10 years with developments ramping up across the UK, EU and globally too, as we all race towards our decarbonisation targets, that vessel availability and port cability will be stretched and secured partnerships will be the key to timely deployments for developers. The opportunity to secure contracts and to collaborate is huge. Now is the time to see Ports, Supply-Chain and people selling themselves and grabbing a slice of the pie. And, ok, we don’t want to get ahead of ourselves but the other option may be missing out altogether with port infrastructure changes taking on average 4 years, vessel construction 3-5 years and developers and vessel companies already securing contracts for operations into 2030… If you have something to offer and more importantly, a lot to gain, I’d put your hand up now. #celticsea #flow #floatingoffshorewind #ports #portinfrastructure #portdevelopments #netzero #greenmarine #vessels

What are the key trends for tugs and towage in 2024? Riviera Maritime Media Ltd takes a look into owners, operators, designers and shipyards are adapting to changing trends in towage requirements coming from the shipping industry’s drive to decarbonize. One key trend emerging is that more tugs are being built to use batteries, electric or hybrid propulsion systems to reduce their environmental impact. E1 Marine is proud to contribute to this evolution through the ongoing development of the M/V Hydrogen One workboat in collaboration with Maritime Partners and Elliot Bay Design Group. When it hits the water, the vessel will be IMO 2030 compliant, meet the USCG’s Subchapter M requirements, and have an operational range of 550 miles before refueling. All of this will be achieved whilst maintaining the highest safety and efficiency standards. Find out more on the top trends: https://lnkd.in/e2wDmkNv #IMO #Safety #Decarbonization

We have walk to work gangways, this looks like a similar design to dampen the motion on crew transfer vessels. I would be interested to hear what my naval architect connections think of this latest innovation in vessels. How does it measure up against surface effect ships SES. #shipbuilding #crewtransfer #offshorewind
The groundbreaking innovation is the world's first crew transfer vessel with a suspension system for commercial use. This suspension system, developed by Australian inventor Nauti-Craft Marine Suspension Technology, The traditional ceremonial launching lift at Hitzler Werft GmbH on Thursday, March 21, 2024, the new build with the building number WB-18#001 from Wallaby Boats has now been successfully launched into the water. Read The Full Article:- https://lnkd.in/eWYsvA3C "We are delighted to have brought the construction of this completely new type of ship to a successful conclusion and have been able to further strengthen our partnership with WallabyBoats GmbH," says Marek Klimenko, Managing Director of the Hitzler shipyard in Lauenburg. "We are delighted about the extremely high level of interest and the many registrations for test drives with the prototype!" says Eike-Kristian Höper, Managing Director of Wallaby Boats GmbH. "As a small shipping company from the tranquil town of Kappeln on the Schlei, we are very proud to have been involved in this exciting project from the very beginning," says Harald Hübner Managing Director of OFFCON GmbH. The innovation will initially be tested together with EnBW Energie Baden-Württemberg AG , the new owner of the CTV, during operations in their Baltic Sea wind farms. 🚢 UMSG is Introducing a special 𝗘𝘅𝗰𝗵𝗮𝗻𝗴𝗲 System for thrusters, steering gear, also we have various types in stock such as Wartsila FT125, FT175, Ulstein 90TV-A, Brunvol FU-63, Ten fjord SR662-200 steering gear. 🛠️ Why is this 𝗘𝘅𝗰𝗵𝗮𝗻𝗴𝗲 System such a good idea for you, you might be thinking? With this system that we have setup, our customers will always have a fully overhauled thruster ready and standby for them for whenever they need it. When the thruster needs to be overhauled during docking , or if they have an issue with the seals, or others problems. The advantage being it can be exchanged at anytime, anywhere and whenever, resulting in less downtime and cost. When it is their bow thruster, it will even eliminate the need of a dry-dock as we can install the unit afloat. Simply said it will save not only time but also money for the Ship managers, Vessel owners. WIN- WIN for everyone 🚢 See below the UMSG Approach: 🧑🔧Inspection and Technical consultation and renewal: We know and understand our customers very well, new and old we are always here to discuss their needs and wishes. As we know what thrusters, steering gears they have on their vessel, we can offer them a fully ready thruster to be available at all times. For existing and new customers we can also source a required thruster, inspect onsite for the condition. Fully overhaul and have it ready for an easy and quick exchange all over the world. 🎯 Preparation: After the unit is completely overhauled, pressure tested and function tested in our workshop. It will be painted and be made ready for transport, in a crate. And ready to be shipped world-wide. If It needs to be stored for a longer period of time, it will be filled with oil/ conservation oil and maintained according to intervals as recommended by maker. 🧑🔧 𝗜𝗻𝘀𝘁𝗮𝗹𝗹𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻: Our support and service goes beyond just overhauling these exchange units in the workshop Our skilled engineers will remove the unit afloat, or in dock and will fit the newly overhauled thruster. Connect it, fill up the unit, do all the required test and run the unit together with vessels crew. And will leave only after all involved are fully satisfied. 🛠️ After 𝗦𝗲𝗿𝘃𝗶𝗰𝗲: The old unit will be send back to the UMSG workshop in Pernis – the Netherlands. Where our engineers will completely dismantle the unit, inspect what the problem is, measure and record all findings, parts that require machining, and a full report will be made. After discussion with the owners, the unit will be fully overhauled and prepared for the next exchange. 🚢 UMSG has setup this system for our existing and new customers to save them valuable time and most of all money.
