B.Eng || Biz/Startup Operations Mgmt & Strategy @Bundo ~ E-commerce || Nonprofit Operations @techgirlmagic_ ||
I’ve literally come across over 50+ job postings from tech companies & startups (both locally and globally) since the beginning of the year which means we’re at the onset of ‘Job Season’ of 2024 and this is the perfect time to shoot your shots at landing a great job. However, one area where some early-to-mid career buddies usually miss it, is knowing how to position themselves for landing a great job. I made this video to help anyone currently in that situation; throwing some light on how to position yourself to attract the attention of recruiters as well sharing some snippets from my own experiences. ____ PS: kindly note that None of this advice is cast in stone. You could be already applying some or even all of these strategies but to no avail. The purpose of the video is not to magically promise that you’ll get your dream job this week or next week but to throw some light into what you might be missing. It could also spark an idea of two about something you could try and do differently. Finally, remember to keep in mind that job rejections are a part of the process and shouldn’t define your value or worth. It should be a motivation to keep moving towards what is yours. Kindly share to anyone you know needs to hear this💜✨ . . . . . . . . . #jobsearch #careertalkwithyvonne #careerdevelopment #techgirlmagic #techgirlmagicinitiative #techjobs #techjobs2024 #jobapplications #tech #growth #explore

When I finished college, I was excited to start my career in tech. I had the skills and the passion, but I didn’t have a job. I remember my first rejection email. It was from a company I really wanted to work for. The words “We regret to inform you…” felt like a punch in the stomach. Over the next few months, I got used to seeing those words. I started to doubt myself. Was I not good enough? Did I choose the wrong career? It was tough. But then, something changed. One evening, I went to a local tech meetup. I almost didn’t go, thinking it would just remind me of my failures. But that night, I met a mentor who changed my life. He shared his own story of rejection and how he bounced back. For the first time, I felt hopeful. He told me, “Rejection doesn’t mean you’re not good enough. It just means you’re being redirected to something better.” With new determination, I updated my resume, improved my skills, and started networking more. I also worked on a personal project to show what I could do. It wasn’t easy, and I still had doubts, but I kept going. A few months later, I got a job offer from a company that appreciated my unique skills. It wasn’t the dream job I had in mind, but it turned out to be perfect for me. I’ve grown so much in the past year, both professionally and personally. Looking back, I see that those rejections were not the end, but the start of a new path. They taught me to be strong, keep going, and believe in myself. To anyone facing rejection right now, remember this: Every “no” brings you closer to a “yes.” Keep pushing, keep learning, and never doubt your worth. #CareerJourney #Resilience #TechIndustry #NeverGiveUp

7moHello, to everyone reading: I'm happy to recommend Holly. I wasn't able to match with the engineering team she suggested, but I appreciate her professionalism & it was nice to talk with her. Also please get in touch if I can help others looking. I am open to your recommendations of engineering or technology projects. For me, good locations would be eastern PA / central NJ, or remote.
