Primary Initiatives - CJ3 Field Ops The CJ3 Foundation is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit public charity organization serving our Nation’s Wounded Heroes – Wounded/Disabled U.S. Military Service Members, Veterans, Law Enforcement, Firefighters, and Emergency/First Responders. We do this through four primary Initiatives: (1) CJ3 Advocacy, (2) CJ3 Mental Health & Wellness, (3) CJ3 Service Dogs, and (4) CJ3 Field Ops. The CJ3 Foundation provides services, support, and advocacy to our Nation’s Wounded Heroes who need/require assistance and then connects them with resources and programs designed to meet their unique set of needs. The CJ3 Foundation assists them in finding both the means and opportunities to holistically improve their life outlook and reconnect with the communities they selflessly chose to serve. We would like to take the opportunity to highlight each of our CJ3 Initiatives in an effort to help you truly understand what we do here at the CJ3 Foundation. The fourth CJ3 Initiative we will describe is our CJ3 FIELD OPS INITIATIVE! CJ3 FIELD OPS. The CJ3 Foundation provides wounded/disabled American Heroes with fully hosted, professionally guided outdoor adventures, whether it be hunting, fishing, racing, or other outdoor activities. Our Recipients are given the opportunity to return to the great outdoors and reexperience hope, optimism, and motivation through outdoor activities that aid in physical, emotional, and spiritual healing, as well as providing social interaction that allows the Recipients to transition back into their daily lives. Through this Initiative, our Recipients find natural therapy from outdoor recreational activities and create memories and friendships that last a lifetime. m a total and permanently disabled USMC combat veteran. I was fortunate to work for UPS for 18 years before my injuries and disabilities became debilitating preventing me from working. There is an attempt by some to give back to the country, military communities, or even local communities in isolated instances, but by and large there is a selfish undercurrent running in our society. When I was attending management classes whether it was at UPS, college classes, or development classes of any kind there was an idea of giving back …… a sort of empathy originating from the trials and tribulations of what we had to go through to get to where we are. At UPS it was United Way, we were expected to give a leadership amount as management and to participate in community projects to help those less fortunate than ourselves. In the Marine Corps we had local community projects with civilians in our operational area providing services and materials and, in some cases, the necessities of basic life. Since Covid charities have either experience lower meaningful donation levels or have adapted to be more profitable. Some charities have been replaced by for profit, and in some cases questionable organizations seeming to offer the same services while taking advantage of the principle. Unscrupulous people have also become more prevalent preying not only on the charities using fraud to access their resources as well as unsuspecting individuals, victimizing them as well. One thing I have learned over the years and the diverse experiences I have had is that YOU cannot complete the task or job by yourself. You need people cooperating to be successful. Your most valuable resource in any situation is your workforce / people. As you continue in your careers and employment choices, I want you to keep this in mind: ·     Who are my people and why are they working for me / my company? ·     What can I do to help mentor them to be a better happier member of my team? ·     Who has helped you on your journey and how can you give back to those around you? Philanthropy is defined as: the desire to promote the welfare of others, expressed especially by the generous donation of money to good causes. This is a phrase that is often associate with larger-than-life figures like Elon Musk, and Bill Gates, but this is also something that each of us can pursue in our lives. Just like my Marine Corps brothers who call me up and issue challenges which are out of my comfort zone but ultimately good for me, I offer this personal challenge to you. Whether you call it “paying it forward”, “giving back to the community”, or “helping those less fortunate”, what are you doing in a positive manner to help those less fortunate than yourselves? One word of caution, check and verify they charity you are planning on giving to and verify how they use your funds. Also showing up to participate in events is key if you want to make a change. I can’t golf—not even a little bit. But sometimes, it’s not about us. On top of that, there's something refreshing and powerful about giving back. Deep down, we probably all know this. But sometimes we need a reminder. I did. Participating in this year’s 18 FORE MILITARY FAMILIES Golf Tournament was the reminder I needed. Here are some quick thoughts/reminders on the impact of giving: 1️⃣ For the Giver: Giving cultivates a sense of purpose and fulfillment. It opens our hearts, broadens our perspectives, and lets us become part of something greater than ourselves. It reminds us of our own blessings and encourages gratitude for what we have. 2️⃣ For the Recipient: For those on the receiving end, acts of kindness can be life-changing. Whether it's access to education, medical assistance, or basic necessities—charitable contributions provide essential support to those in need. They instill hope, restore dignity, and empower people to overcome challenges and build a brighter future. 3️⃣ For Society: Giving fosters a sense of unity and compassion.
