We underscore the need for educators to join a nationwide discourse akin to a 'Manhattan Project,' proactively engaging with administrators, technology leaders, politicians, and others. The emphasis is on preparing for a transformative, unpredictable future that will require resilience, an ethical mindset, and flexibility as AI transforms learning. The future is rapidly approaching, and our proposals are designed to foster dialogue, reflection, and learning to help us leverage the opportunities and address the ethical challenges ahead. The Ethics of Artificial Intelligence in Education identifies and confronts key ethical issues generated over years of AI research, development, and deployment in learning contexts. Adaptive, automated, and data-driven education systems are increasingly being implemented in universities, schools, and corporate training worldwide, but the ethical consequences of engaging with these technologies remain unexplored. Featuring expert perspectives from inside and outside the AIED scholarly community, this book provides AI researchers, learning scientists, educational technologists, and others with questions, frameworks, guidelines, policies, and regulations to ensure the positive impact of artificial intelligence in learning.

Guarding the Guardrails Episodes: Developing and implementing AI Education, Ethics and Awareness    Invest in education and awareness initiatives to increase understanding of AI technologies and their ethical implications among stakeholders. This helps to build a shared understanding of the ethical challenges and opportunities associated with AI. Underserved communities, public schools and community collages should be prioritized regarding AI Curriculum and developing technical skills.   Establish independent ethics review boards or committees to assess the ethical implications of proposed AI projects, AI Curriculum and other related initiatives. These boards can provide guidance on ethical best practices, review research proposals, and offer recommendations for mitigating potential risks.   #EthicsReviewBoards
