Public services that have for years been creaking are now crumbling Like many others, CIPFA has called for a long-term capital programme to address the historic capital underinvestment in the health sector and support the provision of, an NHS estate which is fit for purpose and aligned with the policy agenda around closer integration of services. There is still time to join us for a virtual roundtable discussion on 📅 Tuesday 21 May 2024 from 10:00-12:00. This virtual roundtable will bring together a range of professionals from across the NHS and local government to explore the potential to address these issues, at the local level. Also attending will be our in-house CIPFA experts, to explore how we might provide support and potential solutions. 🙌 Public Health Heroes: Meet Tyler Woodard, Strategic Planning Cell Representative in our Office of Preparedness and Response. Tyler acts as IDPH’s representative to the Illinois Inter-agency Strategic Planning Cell, a cross-disciplinary group of representatives from various state agencies. His primary role is updating public health-related content in the Illinois Emergency Operations Plan. First interested in a broad range of topics spanning EMS to disease outbreaks, Tyler also knew he didn’t want to work in those areas specifically. Everything changed his senior year of high school when he discovered emergency management. In his first year of college studying emergency management in a school of public health, Tyler attended a lecture on environmental health and risk factors for asthma. As a child who dealt with asthma, this kickstarted his career in public health, with a focus on tackling public health problems through a disaster management lens. The most rewarding part of Tyler’s position is seeing tangible results. Whether it’s watching his plans get put into action or using the connections he establishes in events and exercises, the impact of Tyler’s work is felt across subject areas.
