It's certainly not Blue Monday here at Home Group, as we are excited to be celebrating Wellbeing Fortnight! This internal event will welcome guest speakers on a range of topics including writing a will, self-care, sleep management, and financial wellbeing. We also have a wide range of wellbeing support available for our colleagues to prioritise their personal wellbeing. As the 16th Best Workplace for Wellbeing, our organisation is a place where everyone can thrive both personally and professionally.

Self check-ins should be a core component of our work routines 🧠💭 With busy schedules, deadlines and stressful moments, taking a moment to pause and reflect can be really helpful for safeguarding your health and wellbeing. Here are some questions you can consider to guide this practice: - Who can I connect with today? Do I need support? - What do I need right now? Have I covered the essentials - hydration, fuelling my body… - Where am I directing my energy? - When can I make time for rest? - Why is prioritising my wellbeing essential in my work? - How will making intentional choices / changes to my workday impact my mood and performance? Incorporating these small self check-ins, particularly during busy times, can significantly enhance your overall mood, productivity, and mindset. Beat the Blues: January's third Monday has earned a reputation for being the "most depressing day of the year." With its combination of post-holiday blues, grey weather, and the reality check that comes with broken New Year resolutions, it’s no wonder people can feel a bit down. At Compass Canada, this year’s Blue Monday was anything but blue. Instead, the day was filled with vibrant activities aimed at uplifting spirits, fostering connection, and prioritizing wellness in the workplace. Together, Workplace Experience and our Mental Health DIAC organized Blue Monday: Activities for a Better Day – a day designed to help our associates embrace positivity in the midst of winter’s toughest months. The office was infused with color, music, and engaging activities that encouraged both mental and physical well-being. From uplifting tunes to tasty snacks and wellness-focused activities, our team came together to create an atmosphere of positivity. One of the highlights was the opportunity for social interaction – an essential aspect of workplace well-being. In times when isolation can feel overwhelming, it’s vital to make space for connection. Whether through casual chats over lunch or group exercises, these interactions play a significant role in lifting our collective mood. While events like these are essential in brightening the mood on a particular day, it’s the regular practices that help us sustain well-being throughout the year. Incorporating self-care routines, building a culture of support, and fostering gratitude in our daily lives can make a lasting difference in our mental and physical health – long after Blue Monday has passed. Being busy or just being. Thoughts for wellbeing. Systems are always busy. Busy doing to, busy counting outcomes of what is done, busy counting those who are counting & doing. So much counting of things that can be counted, but not everything that can be counted is necessarily good for wellbeing. Counting can't capture the joy of connection, the power of shared moments, of seeing things in new & different ways, of simply being, & being well. Busy is not always best. Busy might mean we miss out on what makes life meaningful. Being doesn't have to be busy, as simply being is often what matters more.
