Let them know how much you value their wisdom and guidance. 5. Prepare their favorite dish and enjoy it together. 2. Something that reflects their interests or hobbies. 3. Take them to a place they love or somewhere new and exciting. All Home Care Matters - Episode 297 (Please Subscribe) All Home Care Matters and our host, Lance A. S. welcome Katie Kristofic as guest to the show. An entrepreneurial spirit, Katie Kristofic has always been drawn to companies and projects with a greater purpose. She founded The Carefullist in 2023, providing an online social community, resources, and support for family caregivers after her caregiving journey ended when her mom passed away from Alzheimer’s Disease. Katie has over 20 years of marketing communications experience, including 15 years in Pharma and Biotech leading teams in strategic and promotional marketing, public relations, and crisis communications management. Katie previously held sales and regional account management positions with medical book and supply distribution companies. She has a BA in Communication Studies from West Chester University and a Corporate Communications Certification from Cornell University. In addition to her passion for leveling the caregiving playing field, Katie enjoys comedy, baking, and spending time with her family. About The Carefullist: Caring for a family member is the ultimate act of love. We know, we've been there. It can also be challenging and lonely. We've been there, too. As a matter of fact, that's how The Carefullist began. As the saying goes, when there is a diagnosis there are actually two new patients; the person receiving care and the person giving it. We share carefully vetted caregiving resources and tips, in addition to personal takes on grief, how that process often starts far before a loved one passes away, and how grief can occur with any life-altering change. Everyone who finds themselves in the role of caregiver, as someone else’s “person”, deserves to have somewhere to turn that makes the journey go just a little bit smoother, feel a little less daunting, and hopefully, a lot less lonely. We imagine a time when the resources and support family caregivers need are not only at their fingertips, but also found easily and come strongly recommended by trusted Carefullists who have walked this path before. #care #caregivers #caregiving #caregiver #dementia #alzheimers #dementiaawareness #carers #resources #tips #caregivinglife #caregivingtips #seniorcare #health #healthcare #homecare https://lnkd.in/gs_Gib9M

family caregiver - 93 year old Mom came home; social scientist - mostly interested in the growing catastrophe in elder care; certified project manager; artist - perpetual cards; writer; musician
We need to develop a method for measuring time cost in family caregiving. This method needs to be able to map onto institutional methods for measuring time cost so we can finally compare and contrast the cost of time in both settings and then measure resource flows between the two settings. Based on our personal family caregiving experience, I wonder what the equivalent resource flow would be to support my frail elder Mom in an institutional setting rather than our family home. Time cost is one of two categories of expenditure that I would like to see measured. The other would be material costs. https://lnkd.in/epGBSjkb

Self-care often involves simple yet essential daily routines like bathing, dressing, and grooming. For seniors, these tasks are vital for maintaining dignity, comfort, and a positive outlook. Beyond the physical, feeling clean and well-groomed boosts self-esteem. As we age, independence may decrease, making personal care challenging. Our role is to provide support with empathy, respect, and patience. Every individual is unique. Effective care means understanding their needs and preferences. Encourage independence whenever possible and create a calm environment. Remember, small acts of care make a big difference. Prioritize personal care to enhance the lives of our elderly loved ones. #agedcare #seniors #eldercare #seniorliving #caregiver #caretaker #dignityinaging
