Great to go to the Signature Care - Residential Aged Care facility in Langwarrin today to see Acredia Care CareDirect system in action. Talking with Clinical Manager Stepfhanie Reyes today it was great to hear of the improvements in the care being delivered to residents because of the system, when asked how the facility has adopted to the technology, Stepfhanie said "I don't think the staff will ever be able to go back to using notes or the computer for clinical care. The technology has completely changed how we work and interact with our residents. Using CareDirect means that we can complete everyday care with real-time updates in the system from a handheld device, making each interaction with our residents more personal, and more efficient. Other benefits have also been seen, including reduction of our call bell response times from over 3 minutes to today, where we are averaging a 1:48 minute response. It's been an incredible uplift in how we are able to manage our time." This setback sheds light on the tumultuous state of Pharmacy Digital/IT. It's disheartening that these challenges persist, especially when many could have been anticipated had the NHS heeded the warnings of frontline teams, contractors, LPCs, and IT providers. The parallels with the Post Office Ltd debacle are stark, underscoring the repercussions of ignoring the voices of ordinary individuals and contractors alike. 2 months after concerns were raised about the CQC's new computer system which led to the Cabinet Office and the Department of Health and Social Care launching an independent review. The #cqc's new Interim chief has issued an apology following the review findings. I speak daily to people trying to start up a domiciliary care company and there is one significant issue among all of them. They are typically waiting 6-12 months for their CQC interview date and they are finding the provider portal temperamental to say the least. The struggles many of them have been facing has even put them off all together. In a letter sent to practices last night, NHS England has set out details on the new GP contract 2024/2025. There are key changes to: 👉 Funding – GP funding will now be part of the standard pay review process for doctors now the five-year contract has ended. 👉 QOF – 32 out of 76 QOF indicators will be suspended and income protected. QOF aspiration payments will be raised from 70% to 80% 👉 IIF/PCN Payments – The investment and impact fund (IIF) will be cut from five to two indicators, with the associated funding for the three retired indicators moved into the capacity and access payment PCNs receive. As a result, total funding for the capacity and access payment will increase by £46m to £292m. 👉 ARRS – Enhanced nurses will be included in the ARRS scheme for the first time; with caps on any other roles linked directly to patient care lifted. There will also be more flexibility on the funding of mental health practitioners at a ICB level. 👉 PCN Changes – The PCN clinical director role specification will change to specify key responsibilities as: co-ordination of service delivery, allocation of resources, supporting transformation towards Modern General Practice, and supporting the PCN role in developing Integrated Neighbourhood Teams. 👉 Access/Digital Technology – PCNs and practices will be asked to review data from digital telephone systems with a view to a new national data extraction that will begin in October 2024. 👉 Other Changes – The weight management enhanced service will continue in 2024/25. Practices will receive £11.50 per referral with total funding of £7.2m.
