The prevalence of #OpioidUseDisorder (OUD) is increasing nationally, and research shows it can significantly impact behavioral and physical health. Excellent work by my colleagues at the Elevance Health Public Policy Institute who have released a report that explores how Medicaid managed care plans can integrate behavioral and physical health benefits to improve outcomes for members experiencing OUD, spotlighting integrated care outcomes from an Elevance Health affiliated Medicaid plan in West Virginia. https://ow.ly/ve1X30sCgyz

Did you know that the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services requires the use of #nonpharmacological interventions before any psychotropic medication is used, prescribed, or increased?! This is CMS's Critical Pathway Tool for #skillednursingfacilities to use to prepare for annual survey with Public Health. The #assistedliving regulations are similar in nature. #CarePartners should be trained on why to use these interventions, which ones to use that have been shown effective in #dementiacare, and when to use them to optimize on benefit. Investing in these tools will improve your #clinicaloutcomes and #ROI. Additionally, you'll be in compliance regularly and for your public health survey! #dementiaeducation #holisticcare #prescriptiveengagement #seniorliving #seniorcare #dementiatraining #dementiacertification #regulations #compliance

Medicaid managed care provides health care for seven in 10 Medicaid beneficiaries, and most states that use the model have some sort of SDOH requirements for screening, member education, and performance measures, among others. A recent article in Health Affairs Forefront, "Addressing Social Drivers Of Health In The Medicaid Managed Care Environment," takes a closer look at the opportunities and challenges that exist in states’ evolving efforts to establish a more expansive and inclusive approach to addressing SDOH. Timely access to high-quality primary care is important for public health - but it also is all too often not equitable. That is why the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services #CMS announced a new model - making sure primary care providers in eligible Accountable Care Organizations (ACOs) can treat people with Medicare using innovative, team-based, person-centered proactive care - brining high quality care closer to or into communities and into the home of patients. https://lnkd.in/eKp7TvPt
