Chief Insight Officer. Exceptional UK NHS & healthcare insight. Proven commercial acumen. Passionate about partnering to accelerate NHS innovation adoption, improving population health and use of NHS resources.
Lots of interesting discussions at #ConfedExpo about #Partnershipworking - which I found fascinating as someone who has a foot in both NHS and industry camps. Industry talks about #industryNHSpartnerships when it refers to #partnershipworking and NHS talks about #integratedcarepartnershipboards (ICP) involving all NHS, statutory and VCSE players when thinking about partnership working at a local level - system, place and neighbourhood/PCN. So there's a bit of miscommunication here potentially. And in some areas of the statutory sector there remains suspicion about Industry's motives for wanting involvement in their partnerships. The launch of the new #ABPIConfed guidance "Accelerating transformation: How to develop effective NHS-industry partnerships" is a big step in the right direction to address some of the mystique and concerns that may prevent wider collaboration and sharing of expertise that involving industry as partners can bring. My own experience over 38 years working with and in the NHS from both sides is that the involvement of trusted industry partners, alongside statutory, VCSE and patient representatives, can accelerate achievement of improved outcomes, and that there are shared values across all parties which place patient outcomes at their core. There are a great many examples now of case studies including a meta analysis in this new guide which shows the wider value of Industry partnerships with the NHS, which should transcend any historical issues and make NHS and connected people think afresh about extending the hand of partnership to include trusted industry players. Not all industry players are equal so choose carefully and ask to see their Partnership credentials..... https://lnkd.in/ejb_k8pc So do give this a new guidance a read, look at some of the case studies, and if you need to chat to build up confidence in advance of taking the plunge, I'd be happy to help Paul Midgley https://lnkd.in/eDbqHQ9U

‘The investment needs to be in estates, digital, skills, management systems, and organisational development. As we shift the resources and priorities, we also need to rapidly scale up and skill up what can be delivered outside the hospital, filling institutional gaps in delivery. Delivering integrated care needs organisational solutions as well as better capacity and capability. If it is to be a paradigm shift in the model of care, it does need a lot of work on definition, leadership, and organisational support.’ #SystemsLeadership #ICS #NHS #Darzi

🔎 🔎 The CQC have released new guidance for NHS Trusts on what a Well-Lead key question evidence gathering will focus on. 🔎 🔎 These are: ➡ leadership ➡ culture ➡governance. The CQC rightly point out that these directly impact on almost all of the other Key Questions and Quality Statements. I would also suggest these are the first areas that any other healthcare organisation (not just NHS Trusts) should analyse as a priority. Our support program starts with exactly these areas as without these it is almost impossible for organisations to assure themselves they abide by all their regulatory obligations.

A phased approach to reform will be essential. Providers must rise up meeting new Aged care standards, registration requirements, a new Aged Care Act plus much more. Changing demand drivers arising from consumer requirements and consumer led preferences will likely be the major sleeper for some. It's pretty clear more consolidation of the sector is needed in next 6 months to help gain scale and capabilities. Boards and Key leaders right now should be putting thought to a 'self assessed risk based reform transition plan' Reach out if you want to book a 1-2 day workshop or arrange a strategic situation assessment - we are here to help Anchor Excellence Anchor Academy SAGE Executive Study Tours #leadersenablingleaders #newagedcare Payal Kapoor Carla Beheram Claire Ward Irene Stein Sarina Rodgers Judy Martin

Quality is vital to the success of an organization but most importantly to the safety of our patients/communities. Hence, the reason for why the governing board is delegated such high authority. It’s so crucial to ensure board members are well versed with the standards, know the vision/ values of an organization and align the initiates with those values. Lastly, that there is plenty of time allocated to discuss and analyze quality reports. What are your thoughts?
