Lets face it, choosing a SkillBridge program can be daunting. The DoD web site is clunky and doesn't offer much insight to the roughly 4850 options you can filter through. There is no one right answer as to which one is the best. That's a personal choice dependent on your situation and what path you want to take post-military. Here's why I chose Allegiant Vets: 1. Access to a vast community of vets at all stages of transition to network and learn from. The Discord has channels dedicated to VA support, job fairs, education and self care just to name a few. 2. Participation in an encouraging environment. 3. Various learning paths to choose from and the ability to change course if you find it isn't for you. 4. The flexibility to participate from my home anywhere in the world and I make my schedule. 5. Am able to start and finish my SkillBridge with AV on my timeline and am not dependent on a cohort. 6. The freedom to apply to any company or entity I want vice relying on only a possibility of interviewing and getting hired at a company I had just interned for 3 months with. Feel free to contact me if you have any questions regarding my experience so far. AV Web Site Link: https://lnkd.in/efzAdWQb

Bridging Military and Civilian Life... How do we do it? I personally think it has to be alongside civilians/veteran supporters. That's the best way to learn something new. And a beautiful thing that we have is a balance. We also have some non-veterans in the room, some veteran supporters who are entrepreneurs that gave those same great insights of, like, this is the journey we've been on for 10-15 years as well. Don't be worried that you're still evolving into that next step because it's shared across high achievers. We're always evolving, continuously growing, and trying to find out that next step.** Our program brings together high-achieving veterans and supportive entrepreneurs to foster an environment of continuous growth and evolution. By sharing insights and experiences, we bridge the gap between military and civilian professional life, helping veterans transition into management and executive roles. This community of like-minded individuals provides a supportive network where members can learn, connect, and thrive. Join us in this journey and be part of a community that values growth and success. Check out our VetOPS program the first Monday of every Month! #Veterans #CareerTransition #HighAchievers

“Humans don’t mind hardship, in fact they thrive on it; what they mind is not feeling necessary. Modern society has perfected the art of making people not feel necessary. It's time for that to end.” ― Sebastian Junger, Tribe: On Homecoming and Belonging When we get handed our DD-214 we barely get a handshake, but we don't care -- we're free. We suddenly have permission to share the excitement and struggles of military life with the unexpected civilian population, but they don't care. Slowly, veterans start to feel like their experiences don't matter; that they don't matter. We no longer have our tribe: the ones who get it. Club Two Fourteen gets it. We are a collective of Colorado veterans who want to share our stories, our experiences, and our struggles with like minds. By connecting with local non-profits, hosting exclusive events, and providing social and business opportunities to veterans we aim to shake hands with any brother or sister in need. Please join us February 7th at Mile High Spirits at 6pm for our 2024 kick-off event! Our very first moves have been a resounding success! The HomeSafe Connect-GO app streamlined the entire process for the service provider from beginning to end. We appreciate Joyce Van Lines for the excellent job they did on all aspects of the move, and we can officially say the first missions of many are complete! Joyce Van Lines COO William Joyce Jr. spoke about their participation in our historic first moves and how he felt about the modernization of moving. “Being able to be one of the first people to sign on with HomeSafe and help them succeed, it lets me help bring moving into a modern era,” said Joyce, Jr. “There should be [an] electronic inventory; we should be getting things set with 2024 standards rather than 2000 and below standards. It gives us a lot of opportunities, mainly to modernize the moving industry, [and] to disrupt things in a way that we could see a future where independent haulers have much greater strength to succeed.” ---- #PCS #Relocation #USMilitary #ArmedForces #GHC #GlobalHouseholdGoodsContract #Moving #HomeSafe #MilitaryFamily #Launch

CEO at RecruitMilitary | Empowering the military community through meaningful career opportunities from top companies
July 25th is 'Hire a Veteran Day' - a day we at RecruitMilitary hold dear, but would like to reimagine. Here's how we'd transform this important day: First, we’d rename it to “Hire from the Military Community Day,” to honor military community spouses, who often exhibit the same leadership and resilience that distinguishes veterans. Second, we’d shift the narrative from a charitable act to a strategic business decision. Hiring from the military community isn’t just a noble cause; it's a savvy business move. Veterans and their spouses bring unmatched leadership qualities, resilience, and the ability to thrive under pressure - traits cultivated in an environment unlike any found in the civilian world. So to all employers: this July 25th, let’s not just recognize Hire a Veteran Day. Let’s expand it to appreciate the entire military community and understand the profound business value they bring.

The Wisdom of Teddy: Speak Softly and Carry a Big Stick. This famous quote by my hero, referred to US foreign policy but it has another meaning. This month marks my third anniversary of retiring from the Army, so I’m sharing a reflection and helpful conversation with my bride. Dear fellow Veterans, our military experience is like a ‘big stick.’ Speak softly, carry it lightly, and use it wisely. Our big sticks represent our hard-earned knowledge, skills, and experience—invaluable characteristics and traits we can bring to bear in almost any situation. It’s powerful and part of why we can add value to almost any team. Our sticks can also be scary and intimidating. While we no longer wear our resumes on our uniforms, our big sticks are still in plain site. We don’t need to swing them around and remind everyone that we have them. When we feel like we need to remind others that we have this big stick, it tends to come from insecurity and ego. Speak softly about it. Save your war stories and ‘back-in-my-unit’ references. Just because we have a big stick doesn’t mean we’re entitled to anything other than an occasional discount and ‘thank you’ on Veterans Day. Read that again. We live in a world where our teammates and customers want to know what we’ve done lately and what we will do next. So we have to earn our sticks every day. As harsh as this sounds, only veterans understand us. Many of our civilian counterparts, who have never served in the military, don’t know or care how our sticks were made. And why should they? Do we need to know the intricate details of their past? Accept that 97% of the population doesn’t know the difference between a Lieutenant and Lieutenant Colonel or a Private First Class and a Sergeant First Class. We can exist somewhere between a basket case on the brink of self-destruction and Jason Bourne. Thankfully, we live in a country where we come from a noble profession. That’s not a global respect, by the way. So, while most Americans respect and thank us for our service, they don’t get it, and that’s okay. Our sticks are limited and can hold us back and drag us down. If we want to learn and grow, keep adding new sticks to our kit bags through continued education, professional development, and deliberate discomfort. You don’t need a certificate or extra letters behind your name to be more marketable when you transition. Our big sticks don’t make us who we are. They are part of our past and don’t define our future. Most importantly, our big sticks were never about us. They are designed to help us continue to lead and serve others in our community and country. What are some successes and mistakes you've made and How are you speaking to and carrying your big stick? See you in the arena. Marty Martinez James A. Felts Lisa (Peplinski) Jaster, PMP JC Glick Jon Macaskill Jason Van Camp Boulder Crest Foundation Brian Marren Greg Williams Greg VanDyne

The power of community’s priceless… This is what bridging a community together as a whole looks like. This room is filled with active service members, civilians, military spouses & their children, small businesses, veterans, & corporations. It’s filled with mom’s, dad’s, sisters, brothers, children, aunts, uncles, grandparents, & neighbors. They’re all here for ✨1✨ reason - To support our service members & their families. In my time with Operation Gratitude, I’ve had the complete honor of working hand-in-hand with individuals within every military branch to coordinate the shipment of over 135,000 individual care packages to deployed troops overseas, over 40,000 hand-assembled Battalion Buddies to our military kiddo’s facing deployments, & hundreds of “Spouse Bags” to military spouses holding down the homefront. We assembled 7,500 individual care packages for deployed military personnel the day this video was snapped in a massive community care package assembly in partnership with Operation Gratitude & CSX! This video doesn’t give this event justice…the vibes, the sense of belonging & humble servitude, the overflowing love, & the overwhelming sense of community was just indescribable! This was just ONE assembly & 7,500 care packages. We’re a family that loves deep & genuinely believes that our purpose here on Earth is to just leave it a little better through each step in our path. Operation Gratitude has been just 1 way of showing that.❤️ If you have less than 1 minute today, please VOTE for Armed Forces Insurance Military Spouse of the Year® at https://lnkd.in/ejKhqWNi Thank you SO much for all the support.❤️ #afimsoy2024 #AFIMSOYFAMILY #msoy24 #operationgratitude #remembereveryonedeployed #supportourtroops #military #community #communityengagement #corporatesocialresponsibility #csr #employeeengagement #employeeexperience #giveback #volunteer #communityleadership #employeeexperience

Tossing a little #throwbackThursday into the mix today... Do you recognize these? Do you still have something to play them on? The top four are a few of the tapes I listened to in the early 90's when I was qualifying to become a Sales Director in Mary Kay Cosmetics. Rena Tarbet was a top National Sales Director. BOTH sides of BOTH of those tapes are filled with gold about self esteem. Shad Helmstetter is most well known for his book, What to Say When You Talk to Yourself. This tape is What to Say When You Talk to Yourself About MONEY. The music that fills your life is also important...this tape and many more in my stash helped motivate me to earn my free car. Some people think I'm nuts when I tell them to get VERY specific when it comes to figuring out what they want their life to be like...particularly when they've decided to buy a house. But, I'm not the person who asks anyone to do something I haven't. That tape on the bottom...Jeffrey Brock and I recorded that in 1988, walking in the farm fields behind our house in Hütschenhausen, Germany. It has everything that we could think of then for what we wanted in a house when we got back to the US. What you fill your mind with matters! I'd love to read your comments about how you're filling your mind with things that will grow you to where you want to be...to where you want your team to be. #mindset #military #veterans #militarytransition #transitioningmilitary #militaryspouses #veteranshelpingveterans #zigszagsandpivots
