🚀 “Just Do It” in Product Management: A Double-Edged Sword? Came across this clip from Jay Shetty’s show while traveling home after an interesting discussion with the product team. The topic? Managing stakeholder expectations while staying true to our product roadmap. It struck me: isn’t this exactly the mindset we need in product management? The balance between action and thoughtful decision-making is one of the trickiest parts of the role. It made me reflect on a key question we often face: 1️⃣ Should we Just Do It? Yes—when speed, iteration, or a time-sensitive opportunity is the key to moving the needle. Agile thrives on action. But this doesn’t mean saying “yes” to every request without considering its value. Execution without alignment can lead to wasted effort and unnecessary complexity. 2️⃣ Should we Pause and Evaluate? Absolutely. Product managers are strategists, not order-takers. Every decision should be filtered through questions like: • Does this align with our product vision? • Is it solving the real problem? • Are we considering trade-offs and opportunity costs? Pausing isn’t procrastinating—it’s protecting your product’s long-term success. 🔑 The Sweet Spot: Informed Action True leadership in product management lies in balancing decisive action with deliberate strategy. • Be agile, not reckless. • Be customer-focused, not reactive. • Be driven by outcomes, not just outputs. Like the late late show’s host says the next time someone asks, “Can we just do it?”, pause and ask back: “Do you really want to do it?” If the answer is a clear and confident yes, then—by all means—Just Do It.
