PERE has reported a c. 25% increase in capital flowing into SMAs and co-investment vehicles during 2022-23. Whilst primary commitments have their advantages, this notable uptick signifies a shift among a group of investors who, at this point in the cycle, favour vehicles that afford them greater control over defining investment parameters and the ability to underwrite specific co-investment opportunities. This enables investors to align their capital more precisely with their available capital and portfolio construction strategies to achieve necessary diversification targets.

The investor dinners is something that I really want to start doing. We learned about preventing bad deals and how to save deals from 🔷 Sandhya Seshadri 🔷 Everything from increasing revenue to reducing expenses. My biggest takeaway here on the expense side was to re-bid all service contracts every year. One thing I noticed was that most of the successful capital raisers who were guest presenters have really dialed in who their ideal investors are and have built their business around supporting those people.
