The start of National Environment Agency YES program cohort 2 have started. Meeting new peers from different tertiary school is amazing, like Aaron Hui, Richter Ong and Lim Xin Quan (Lisa Lim). Despite their different course of study, they chose to do this competition to make the world a greener place! Climate Change is real, it's happening very quickly. Once the world hit above two degrees Celsius compared to pre-industrialization levels (1850–1900). Low lying countries like Singapore would Sink and we would not be able to survive! It is a serious issue, and we need to take action! It is really fascinating that NEA have such opportunities for youths to learn and create projects to advocate, design and prototype their innovative ideas for the world. So that not only our current generation can have a better live but the future generation also. #Singapore #NEAYES #Environment #saveourworld

Community Development Professional | Social Worker | Bridging Gaps Ambassador | Climate Change Advocate | Community Mobilization/Community Engagement Facilitator/ Savings Master-Trainer
🌟 Over recent months, I've delved deep into project implementation, with a strong focus on community-driven development and sustainable livelihoods that benefit both people and the environment. This journey has equipped me with invaluable knowledge and skills to effectively engage communities, ensuring that Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) considerations and gender perspectives are fully integrated. 🌍 🌿 Through immersive learning experiences, I've explored and continued to learn how nature-based solutions can enhance community resilience and mitigate climate change impacts. The synergy between courses on sustainable development and nature-based solutions, has been particularly enlightening. I've also gained insights into legal frameworks through courses like #Key Essentials: The Paris Agreement, Sustainable Development, and the Law, supported by a scholarship from the University of Cambridge through the Democratising Education for Global Sustainability and Justice initiative. These courses have been pivotal in helping me promote global sustainability goals and addressing social inequalities exacerbated by climate change. 🌱🌡️ 💪✨ This integrated approach has not only strengthened my capacity to assist communities in building resilience but also underscores the importance of inclusive and holistic strategies. I am open to invitations(Physical/virtual) to participate in learning sessions, workshops, and volunteering opportunities focused on these areas, as my commitment to continuous learning and contribution remains resolute..🌟📚 #Sustainability #CommunityResilience #CommunityDevelopment #EnvironmentalConservation #GlobalJustice #ClimateAction

Sustainable development is the direction towards human wellbeing, that includes, economic prosperity, social fairness, and environmental sustainability. Although treaties are made, countries did not hold their end of bargain until 2015 Paris climate conference. Profit and greed of the flawed system has failed attempted improvements. Scandinavian countries show resilience in accordance with social ethos to green development that is ideal for sustainability. Happiness is not limited to the personal and professional growth, it is not dictated by the wealth one has amassed or the power one holds over others, it is by helping others to accomplish a goal. A sense of accomplishment, social wellbeing, collective progress and, taking responsibility, working towards positivity as a team are the means of happiness. https://lnkd.in/gC4-brPB #sustainabledevelopment.

We have the solutions. Education is key.📚 This was the takeaway for me from a compelling workshop I had attended today by Climate Fresk Singapore, a NGO championing climate change awareness. They are present in many countries. 🙅🏻♀️ Ignorance is not bliss. Many folks I know, are aware of the extreme weather events but choose not to find out more or do anything about it. I often hear, “The problem is bigger than me”, “Who am I to do anything? Someone else will fix this.” or “This is such a complex topic.” Climate education equips us with the necessary knowledge and skills to make informed choices and take meaningful action against climate change. Through a highly informative game and open discussions, the Climate Fresk workshop helps one to understand and reflect on: • The cause (human activities) and consequences of climate change • The interconnectedness of energy systems and chemical reactions that occur • Possible solutions to the climate crisis we are facing ——— As a sustainability practitioner, it was an enlightening experience. I had enjoyed the way the information was shared and the facilitators made the difference as they were very knowledgeable and approachable. To my surprise, one of them was a school friend I have not seen in over 20 years! I highly recommend everyone join a session. 💧 Complete 8-month programme for #young water & climate professionals and several #tools & #resources to address the important gap in the water #workforce. The partners came together to develop a set of important tools and guidelines, for youth and organisations, which we would like to share with you: 📘 Youth for #Water & #Climate Roadbook (attached) is intended to help guide any organization interested in implementing a programme or initiative to support early career professionals as they enter the water & climate space. This document proposes some “food for thought” to enable any organization to replicate the project at their own level and in their own field of expertise. 📘 Online Curriculum – Building your Water & Climate Career The YWC Curriculum is an open-source and freely available online course which aims to inform, motivate and prepare youth to develop innovative and disruptive solutions to tackle some of the planet’s biggest challenges, equip them with the needed leadership skills and methodologies to develop their (professional) personality to make a real change, and provide them with methodologies and tools to implement water & climate solutions either as an independent entrepreneur or in a professional career in a existing organization. 📘 Mentorship guide (for mentors & mentees) Over the course of the program, the young professionals were matched with an experienced professional from the water and climate sector, with whom they connected at least once a month. To maximize the impact of this experience, a guide was developed both for the mentors and the mentees. The Youth for Water & Climate programme and the Roadbook is developed and implemented by Secrétariat international de l'eau - International Secretariat for Water – Solidarity Water Europe, alongside Global Water Partnership, Global Water Partnership - Central and Eastern Europe (GWP-CEE), Cewas, @Global Water Partnership Hungary and Good Planet Belgium.
