As we enter a new week, let's remember the fundamental truth that every child has the right to learn. At Evangeline’s Care and Wellness Foundation (ECWF), we are committed to breaking down the barriers that prevent children with special needs from accessing quality education. In too many places, children with special needs are overlooked and excluded from classrooms, missing out on opportunities that every child deserves. But we believe in a future where every child, regardless of their abilities, can walk into a classroom and feel empowered, supported, and capable of achieving great things. This Week’s Focus: We’re shining a light on the importance of inclusive education and how it can transform lives. Through advocacy, community support, and dedicated resources, we aim to ensure that every child, especially those with special needs, has the opportunity to thrive academically and socially. How You Can Help: Join us in this mission. Follow ECWF on LinkedIn, and Facebook to stay updated on how we're working to make education accessible for all. Share our posts, spread the word, and let’s work together to create a world where every child’s right to learn is honored.

CENTRE CELEBRATES 20years This week marks the 20-year anniversary of the establishment of the Centre for Children and Young People. And in typical Centre style, we’ve let it fly mostly under the radar as we keep focused on the research in front of us. Two decades on, there’s still much to be done in ensuring the dignity, rights and wellbeing of children and young people are understood and adequately addressed in research, policy and practice, including the right to be heard in matters that impact their lives. But we couldn’t let this moment pass without acknowledging the contributions, support and vision of SO many colleagues right from the beginning, both internal and external to SCU, and those who joined along the way. You are an integral part of this story – thank you for being champions of the Centre’s work. So, too, the support and collaboration we have enjoyed with over 100 government, non-government and community partners regionally, nationally and internationally, who have taught us much about ensuring the research we do is relevant, rigorous and accessible to those who can best use it. Some have been on this journey with us over countless years and many projects. Very especially, though, we are indebted to the many thousands of children and young people who have participated in our research, as participants, co-researchers and advisors. It is from you that we have learned the most – and in return we hope that we’ve done justice to this. 20 years on, there is much that is happening across the world that is unsettling in its short- and long-term impact on the rights, wellbeing and safety of children. Moving forward will require, more than ever, that we each remain vigilant to the ways we listen to the views of children and young people and work together to find evidence informed solutions that honour their experiences and support their aspirations for the future

“……When an unaccompanied child is released from federal custody there is very little data regarding their outcomes after their release. No significant evaluation has been conducted on the effectiveness of services supporting their integration. As the largest provider of these services, USCRI works to ensure that children are safe and that their physical, cognitive, social, and emotional needs are met so that they can thrive in their new communities. USCRI and its partners provided services to more than 25,000 children last year. USCRI partnered with Child Trends, the leading research organization in the U.S. focused solely on improving the lives of children and youth, to develop an evaluation plan to assess the effectiveness of USCRI’s Home Study and Post-Release Services for unaccompanied children. This webinar will explore the outcomes of the collaboration, lessons learned, and recommendations for broader practice to move toward the creation of an evidence-based national model for Home Study and Post-Release Services for unaccompanied children.”
