Hi Linkedin 👋 *personal post alert* My 60 year old dad is running the Leeds marathon in May for the Alzheimer's Society - a cause very close to our hearts. Although it's quite last minute we hope to raise as much money as possible to support the charity. For those who aren't aware, here are some key facts about Dementia: ✴ Dementia is the leading cause of death in the UK, accounting for over 74,000 deaths in 2022. ✴ 1 in 3 people born in the UK today will be diagnosed with dementia in their lifetime ✴ Compared to other major health conditions, investment research in dementia remains low. ✴ The number of people with dementia is predicted to rise to over 1.1 million by 2030 and 1.6 million by 2040. ✴ Dementia is one of the UK's biggest health and social care crises. Please join us in supporting the fantastic work that the Alzheimer's Society does by donating using the link below ✨ https://lnkd.in/enZQ5rYx

The power of positive impact. It's inspiring to see an investment in the community turn into potentially life-changing, or even world-changing results. Recently, Washington University School of Medicine in St. Louis announced they were relaunching a clinical trial next month, funded in part by Edward Jones, to help prevent Alzheimer's. Since 2016 Edward Jones has donated $11 million in corporate funds to impact research in the lab, in the clinic and in the community at Washington University, including two research grants that aim to better prevent, detect and treat Alzheimer's. In honor of Alzheimer's and Brain Awareness Month in June, I thought I'd share some other interesting facts that you might not know about our alliance with the Alzheimer's Association: 📞 Did you know the Alzheimer's Association has a 24/7 Helpline (800.272.3900) that provides information, resources, crisis assistance and emotional support for those living with dementia, caregivers, families and the public? At Edward Jones, we also have our own dedicated 24/7 Alzheimer's Association Helpline just for our clients and colleagues to call if they are ever in need of crisis assistance or decision-making support for themselves or loved ones. 📣 We have more than 500 regional coordinators at Edward Jones who champion our efforts across 600+ Walk to End Alzheimer's events across the country, rallying 12,000+ walkers to join 3,000+ Edward Jones teams and raise more than $3 million every year. 💻 Edward Jones offers an e-learning course on the Alzheimer's Association website to learn about the "10 Warning Signs of Alzheimer's," which you can find here: www.alz.org/edwardjonesedu At Edward Jones, we're in the business of helping families build and preserve wealth, and Alzheimer's is a great threat to the health and wealth of our clients. We refuse to stand idly by and let this disease destroy the financial security and future hopes and dreams of the families that we serve. We hope our efforts with the Alzheimer's Association will continue to make a positive impact today and in the future. Learn more about our partnership here: www.edwardjones.com/alz.

In the UK, dementia is a significant public health challenge, with around 944,000 people currently living with the condition. Here's why dementia research and fundraising are especially crucial in the UK: Dementia not only affects individuals and their families but also has a significant impact on society as a whole. With an aging population, the number of people living with dementia is expected to increase. Research is essential for improving the quality of care and support provided to individuals living with dementia and their caregivers. This includes developing better care practices, support services, and dementia-friendly communities. The UK is a global leader in dementia research, with world-class institutions and researchers dedicated to finding a cure. CCFTV is proud to support fundraising events like the BRACE - Dementia Research - Charity Gala in September. With ongoing research, there is hope for finding a cure or effective treatments for dementia. Every pound raised brings us closer to this goal and offers hope to those affected by the disease. Sponsoring events like the BRACE - Dementia Research Charity Gala, we can make a real difference in the fight against dementia and bring hope to millions of people in the UK and beyond.💜💚❤️

I felt fortunate that I've not known anyone close to me to have suffered from dementia, but given that 1 in 3 people born today will be diagnosed with Alzheimer's at some point in their life, I realised it's more likely that I simply haven't been aware of what people close to me are going through. Alzheimer's disease is a physical illness which eventually causes dementia, and common symptoms include memory problems; difficulty concentrating, planning, and communicating; being confused about time or place; and changes in mood. An estimated 900,000 people are living with dementia in the UK today. As someone with aging parents, uncles, and aunties, I've been more and more worried about what they, and many others around the world could go through. So to help raise awareness and make a difference, I'll be doing a skydive to raise funds for Alzheimer's Society. If you're able to spare some money to donate at the link below, you'll be helping support the millions of people affected by dementia in the UK. No matter how small, it will make a difference. Alzheimer's Society is the UK's leading dementia charity and works towards a world where dementia no longer devastates lives. Since the start of the initiative in 1979, they have focused on supporting and improving the lives of those living with dementia, but also provide £10 million a year of funding towards research and lead government-targeted campaigns to provide hope for the future. https://lnkd.in/eJQwiS2m

✨1st Jan = 62 min walk and an 8 min lake swim West Country Water Park! Join me in supporting MOVE 4 MS, The Brightwell's big fundraising campaign this Jan. As someone who has witnessed the impact of #neurologicalconditions, I know how important it is to have access to quality care. That's why I'm #fundraising for The Brightwell, a place that offers a safe space for those with neurological conditions to come to terms with their diagnosis and work towards living a full and independent life. With an estimated 4.7 million people in the UK living with a neurological condition, it's crucial that we support organisations like The Brightwell that provide life-long care at a subsidised rate for members. Their core treatments, #Neuro Physiotherapy & #OxygenTherapy, are designed to address the many different symptoms of neurological conditions and help people move forward. By participating in MOVE4MS, I'm challenging myself to 60 minutes a day of movement to make a difference in the lives of those affected by neurological conditions. With your support, we can reach my target of £100 and make a real impact on the lives of those who need it most. Let's come together and make a difference for those living with neurological conditions! 🙏👇 https://lnkd.in/ej55EMCa #MultipleSclerosis #Parkinsons #ME #Stroke

Medical research is so important for everyone.
“We wanted to find a way to remember and honor Papa that was meaningful, purposeful and helped others just like he lived his life. The idea of a research grant in Papa's name was born. And the research grants are specifically for research into Parkinson's and dementia and neurodegenerative illnesses. And we thought that was a very fitting way to remember him, to have something meaningful, purposeful and a way of giving to others. We hope that the recipients of the research grants will be inspired, but Papa's life and his values, but also that they will go on in their own careers to replicate the standards of care that we received from Doctor Cordato.” - Giovanna Ferlaino, said of her late father Giuseppe. Help us continue the late Giuseppe Ferlaino's legacy. Walk for Endo 2024: 8,000 Steps a Day for Awareness and Change This July, I will be joining the Walk for Endo 2024 challenge - a fundraiser dedicated to raising awareness and support for endometriosis, a chronic condition that affects 1 in 10 women. As someone who has been affected by this condition and waited ten long years for a diagnosis, I am committed to making a difference by walking 8,000 steps every day throughout the month of July. I am passionate about bringing visibility to endometriosis and advocating for better research, understanding and treatment. Endometriosis causes chronic pain, infertility, and a range of debilitating symptoms. Despite its prevalence, it remains poorly understood and often misdiagnosed. This fundraiser is an opportunity to shed light on the struggles faced by those with endometriosis, support crucial research, and foster a supportive community within our workplaces and beyond. Walking 8,000 steps daily symbolizes the avarage time it takes to receive a diagnosis in the UK, as well as the persistent effort and resilience required to manage endometriosis. It's a personal challenge that represents the journey many individuals face. By taking these steps, we not only promote our own health but also take a stand for those who struggle to find answers and relief. How You Can Help? Donate: I have set myself an ambitious goal of raising £1,000 for Endometriosis UK. Contributions will go directly to the organization to fund endometriosis research, education, and support services. Every amount helps to fund crucial initiatives and improve the lives of those affected. You can donate via this link: https://lnkd.in/eW6-rpXS. Spread the Word: Help raise awareness by sharing my story and the mission of Walk for Endo 2024 with your network. Use #WalkForEndo2024 to connect with others and amplify our message. Join the Walk: You can also commit to walking 8,000 steps each day in July. Whether you're a co-worker, friend, or supporter of someone who has been affected by endometriosis, your participation is invaluable. Endometriosis is not just a personal battle; it's a workplace issue that affects productivity, attendance, and overall well-being. By participating in this fundraiser, we can foster a supportive environment and encourage our workplace to be more understanding and accommodating of those with chronic conditions. I have been extremely fortunate to work for a flexible and inclusive company - Wiley - with incredibly supportive and understanding managers (shoutout to Michael O'Riordan and Amanda Wilson). For more information, please visit https://lnkd.in/e97BHe6n. Together, we can stride towards a future with better understanding and treatment for those living with endometriosis.
