I love that we've seen such an increase in interest in supporting causes we care about on Giving Tuesday, but I also feel like this is a valuable (and often missed) opportunity to focus on uplifting organizations that truly match our values. Most people know that food pantries lack the supply and capacity to provide shoppers with everything they’ll need to get through the month. Restricting visits and quantity is a common solution. But somehow, these limitations have become entwined with the idea that they also prevent people from growing “too dependent” on assistance. If you're donating to an anti-hunger organization, make sure to support efforts that practice the belief that everyone deserves to eat, and understand that hunger is a systemic rather than personal problem. No one can be "too dependent" on food. https://lnkd.in/gHdfF6hB #whodeservestoeat #foodjustice

National Food Bank Day 2024 Shall we all take a moment to recognise that we’re in a time where we need a day dedicated to the awareness of food banks and the growing need for them in our communities, now more than ever! At APDO, we are conscious of helping our clients declutter in a healthy way, and one simple way to do that is by donating unused—but in-date—food items to your local food bank. Do you know where yours is? Take a moment to find your nearest food bank and consider what you can contribute with a quick five-minute sweep of your pantry or cupboards. We also work with our clients to think about the future, sustainability, and, most importantly, preventing waste where we can, while educating them on where to take their unused items. Let's make a difference today! Do that quick five-minute sweep and donate what you can. #APDO_UK #NationalFoodBankDay #FoodBank #Awareness #Community #BetterTogether #Declutter #Organise #PreventWaste #Donate

Know that we have a right to food? Angry that this isn’t a reality? In the UK, nearly 10 million adults are food insecure and less than 0.4% of public spending goes to support farming and food production. Farmers are struggling to make a living. Our food system fails to nourish us. And yet food is a basic human right, protected under international law. There is work to be done. The right to food is a powerful tool for change, but without constructive and collaborative work to make it tangible, it will remain an empty slogan that fails to make a real difference. We are fundraising to begin paving the way to a right to food in the UK. We need your support - donate to our Big Give #GreenMatchFund campaign today, and your donation will be doubled, at no extra cost to you. Working with organisations and communities across the UK, we’ll host workshops and conversations to unlock what a right to food and food sovereignty could really look like. This will galvanise the right to food as an important tool for change, ensuring that: people understand their rights and their power to shape food systems; and decision makers understand their duties to build resilient, nourishing food systems. The campaign is open for one week only - 18th - 25th April! Donate here: https://buff.ly/43CZb5K

Did you know REACH is much more than a foodbank? I'm only asking because sometimes that's the default 'label' we get. There is no problem with this of course and we're very proud to help people through our Trussell foodbank, but the bulk of our work involves: #Debt management #Budgeting support #Income maximisation #Council tax help #BlueBadge assistance and much more besides. You see, we believe that by lifting people out of hardship in these ways, we can #reduce the need for food parcels and create #sustainable #impact. https://lnkd.in/eRjc3k6n #foodparcels #community #charity

Week 7 Decision making process The decision-making process for our CSR project of donating food to an elderly home followed several key steps. First, the team identified the need to support the elderly and agreed to focus on donating food. We discussed and decided on the type and quantity of food to donate, keeping in mind the specific needs of the elderly home. Next, roles and tasks were assigned based on each team member's strengths. Some people handled food collection, others were in charge of contacting the elderly home, while others managed the delivery process. We then selected vendors or food sources, making sure to choose affordable and nutritious options. After planning the logistics, like when and how to deliver the food, the team made sure everything was in place for the final execution. Once the donation was completed, we reviewed the project, discussing what went well and how we could improve for future projects. Each decision was made through teamwork and open discussions. #wchrish #horizoncampus

⭐ No Good Food Should Be Wasted - Supporting @FareShare Kent ⭐ This festive season, our teams at KA2 Limited and Church International Limited had the privilege of volunteering with @FareShare Kent, an incredible charity addressing two critical issues in the UK: food poverty and food waste. FareShare Kent works tirelessly to: 🍎 Redistribute surplus food from the industry to those who need it most. 🎓 Provide training to equip people with essential skills for safe food preparation and warehouse employability. 🌍 Champion the message: "No Good Food Should Be Wasted." Our team had the opportunity to help with essential tasks like sorting deliveries, packing orders, checking produce, loading vans, and even completing admin work. The scale of their operation is inspiring, and it's clear that every small action contributes to a much bigger purpose. We're incredibly proud to support a charity that ensures vulnerable groups - whether children, the elderly, or homeless individuals - can access nutritious meals during such a crucial time of year. 📣 Want to help? 🤝 Donate: Food or funds - every contribution matters. 🙋 Volunteer: Your time can make a world of difference. Visit FareShare Kent's website to learn more. https://lnkd.in/eAasUdUz Together, we can build stronger communities and ensure no one is left behind. #GivingBack #FoodPoverty #NoWaste
