This is one of the quotes, which I first heard in Prof. Blake Petty’s class during my Master’s, that has stuck with me and it perfectly captures the essence of the Ideas Challenge – an event that pushes boundaries and invites bold thinking. My passion for entrepreneurship ignited at the age of 10, when I began baking and experimenting with recipes, always striving to create something 'out of the box.' Encouraged by my loved ones, who urged me to start my own small business, I developed a deep curiosity for turning ideas into reality. Fast forward to 2023, and thanks to the incredible opportunities provided by McFerrin Center for Entrepreneurship, which cultivates innovation and growth for aspiring entrepreneurs, I found myself fully immersed in the true essence of entrepreneurship at Texas A&M University – where learning and fun go hand in hand. I quickly learned that there's no one-size-fits-all guide to building a startup – nor should there be! The beauty of entrepreneurship lies in navigating uncertainty, embracing challenges, and developing essential skills like resilience, adaptability, and creative problem-solving. Each step you take is a chance to learn, pivot, and grow. The journey truly began with Startup Fast Pass, a pivotal moment that set everything in motion. Collaborating with and leading an incredible team(Avery Carrejo, Richard Balbin, Kyle Wilson) alongside the guidance of brilliant and inspiring mentors (Steve Thompson, Dayo Olaosebikan, Nicole Peele), we refined our idea and took the leap to compete in the 2023 Ideas Challenge. The energy at the event was infectious – competitive yet welcoming. It didn’t matter how "big" or "small" the idea was; everyone brought their unique creations to the table. In my experience if you're a non-technical founder and you want to build something you are much better off finding someone to partner with who is invested in what you're doing and giving them equity instead of hiring them.
