Hopemark Health was honored to attend the Illinois Psychedelic Society Fundraising Event in Chicago! Our therapists engaged with an enthusiastic crowd, highlighting the benefits of Ketamine-Assisted Psychotherapy (KAP). We were inspired by the growing support for psychedelic therapies and the insightful discussions with leaders like State Senator Rachel F. Ventura. #HolisticTherapy Day is a perfect moment to highlight the comprehensive approaches we champion at Covenant House Vancouver. Recently, Marcia, one of our Clinical Counsellors and art therapists, shared insights into the holistic practices that support the youth we serve. Holistic therapy means addressing the entirety of a person: physically, emotionally, mentally, and spiritually. Marcia explains, "We're an entire system of many parts that are all affecting each other." 🎨 Art Therapy: A Unique Path to Healing| #Arttherapy provides youth a safe space to express themselves creatively, without words. "Art therapy allows youth to express themselves without having to dialogue or retell their story," Marcia says. This trauma-informed approach gives youth the autonomy to choose how and when they engage, which is crucial for their healing. 🤝 Creating Low-Barrier Access to Support We offer low-barrier support through open art studios, which provide a welcoming space for youth to drop in, create art, and build relationships, without pressure. Our team collaborates across disciplines to ensure youth receive well-rounded care that addresses all aspects of their lives. For those interested in learning more about trauma and holistic therapy, Marcia recommends: 📚 Peter Levine's Waking the Tiger and Trauma Proofing Your Kids 📚 Gabor Maté's When the Body Says No and The Myth of Normal. 👉 To learn more about our holistic therapy practices and the incredible work that Marcia and our team are doing, check out our latest blog article: [https://lnkd.in/gJJh5WPt #MentalHealth #TraumaInformedCare #HealingJourney #SocialImpact #NonProfit #CovenantHouseVancouver #SupportYouth #MentalWellbeing

Transformational Leadership -- Infusing Energy into Strategy -- Cultivating Strong Internal Cultures -- Driving Integrated Communications
Let's talk about Alvis, Inc.'s Amethyst Recovery Housing, a sanctuary for women and children seeking healing and hope. This week, I was honored to attend Amethyst's luncheon with fellow Nationwide colleagues, where I heard the courageous stories shared by both current and past clients. These brave women have faced unimaginable trauma and abuse, yet they’ve found strength within themselves to embark on a journey of recovery, and Amethyst's community gives them that strength. 🌱 Rebuilding Lives: Trauma can shatter a woman’s spirit, but Amethyst is a beacon of resilience. It’s not just a place; it’s a community that lifts women up, piece by piece. Here, they find their voices, regain their footing, and rewrite their narratives. 👩👧👦 Unique Support: Amethyst stands out as one of the few women’s treatment programs in the nation where mothers can live with their children during treatment. Children up to age 18 find safety and stability here, right alongside their moms. 🌿 Holistic Recovery: Recovery isn’t a sprint; it’s a marathon. Amethyst understands this truth. Their comprehensive resources address mind, body, and soul. From counseling to vocational training, they nurture every aspect of a woman’s well-being. Let’s spread the word about this remarkable program. Together, we can empower more women to rise, reclaim their lives, and find their voices. https://lnkd.in/e2GBXm-4 Renee Kinkopf, Lorena Gerlach, CSPO #Amethyst #Recovery #Healing #WomenEmpowerment #Alvis #nationwide #community #giveback

Place Based Approaches | Engagement | Trauma Informed | Child Wellbeing | Leadership Development | Asset Based Community Development | Change Management | Curriculum & Program Development | Systems Change
This feels really important for funders. There’s often a misconception about Trauma Informed Practice. It is thought to be an intervention when in fact it is an approach to human relationships, a framework, a culture change and a systems change. Funders and investors are a vital part of this systems change. As actors in the system we all need to learn to apply a trauma lens to the conditions that hold problems in place. However, we also understand that the systems most in need of healing often resist the most. So much of trauma informed work is becoming about organisational development... - co-creating cultures that encourage compassionate curiosity (asking not what's wrong with you, but what happened to you), - nurturing non hierarchical structures (dismantling power structures that have created the conditions for intergenerational trauma), - creating psychological safety, - creating space and courage for leaders to recognise how our own trauma effects our organisations and wider system.

in 2022, nearly 50 million Americans aged 12 or older reported having a substance use disorder (SUD) within the past year, more than a 20% increase from 2020. This is one of the many reasons why the Elevance Health Foundation - the philanthropic arm of Elevance Health - has made a commitment to advancing health equity for those with a substance use disorder. To date, the Foundation’s SUD grantees have reached nearly 350,000 individuals with treatment-related programs. That number will continue to rise, as the Foundation recently announced its third phase of SUD grants through an additional $13.1 million in awards across 35 new organizations, bringing the three-year awarded total to more than $33.7 million to SUD programs. https://ow.ly/86k630sE1PE
