The Value of Patience in Pharmaceutical Care As a pharmaceutical technologist working in a community pharmacy, I often encounter a variety of patient concerns, each presenting its unique challenge. One recent experience stands out and serves as a reminder of the importance of thoroughness and patience in our profession. Just as we were about to close one evening, a familiar face walked in. A middle-aged man of 28, he had been complaining of mild back pain and discomfort when urinating for several months. Previously, he had used a dose of ciprofloxacin and a painkiller, which temporarily relieved the pain. However, three months later, the discomfort had returned. He was insistent on getting another prescription, hoping for a quick fix. But something didn't sit right with me. Instead of rushing to make the sale, I advised him to undergo a prostate test. It was a suggestion met with some hesitation, but he agreed. Unfortunately, the diagnosis came back positive for prostatitis. While this wasn't the news any of us were hoping for, it was a crucial finding. He has since started a 28-day course of Tavanic, and I'm optimistic about his recovery. This experience reaffirmed my belief in the significance of taking the time to understand and address the root cause of health issues rather than opting for immediate but temporary solutions. It’s a reminder that our role is not just to dispense medication, but to provide informed and compassionate care. 💊❤️ Here’s to hoping for a full recovery for him, and to more moments of patience and precision in our practice! 🌟 #PharmaceuticalTechnologist #PatientCare #CommunityPharmacy #Healthcare #MondayMotivation

Good news 🩵to help people not getting worse 🩵💚🩵 Alzheimer’s patients and families live in a cloud of uncertainty. It’s about to get worse! Alzheimer's disease is a brain disorder that gets worse over time. It's characterized by changes in the brain that lead to deposits of certain proteins. Alzheimer's disease causes the brain to shrink and brain cells to eventually die. Alzheimer's disease is the most common cause of dementia — a gradual decline in memory, thinking, behavior and social skills. These changes affect a person's ability to function ! About 6.5 million people in the United States age 65 and older live with Alzheimer's disease. Among them, more than 70% are 75 years old and older. Of the about 55 million people worldwide with dementia, 60% to 70% are estimated to have Alzheimer's disease. The rate of progression for Alzheimer's disease varies widely. On average, people with Alzheimer's disease live between three and 11 years after diagnosis. But some live 20 years or more. The degree of impairment at diagnosis can affect life expectancy.
