OPEN CALL for students! 📣 Apply to be part of the OpenInnovation programme, an amazing opportunity to work with and share your bright ideas and solutions for real industry challenges 🧠 Only for students in DK. Ramboll is thrilled to partner up with DTU - Technical University of Denmark, Copenhagen Business School, and Københavns Universitet - University of Copenhagen in an exciting open innovation initiative. Together with Lendager and The Copenhagen Metro and Greater Copenhagen Light Rail, each of us will pose a company challenge under the topic 🌱 Sustainable Cities 🌱 Represented by our Water market and Ramboll Tech, we are asking students to explore and reimagine how might we transform our urban spaces to support nature-positive, sustainable, and healthy communities by allowing water to play a visible and central role. With mental health in big cities declining and biodiversity in crisis, we start looking towards a rewiring of the way we think of cities. For far too long the average city has been grey, paved, and lifeless except for its human residents. With this challenge, we want to reimagine what a city is. We believe that water can help us do that as the life-giving asset it is. The ambition is establishing a new normal for urban spaces that takes all living systems into consideration with water as its starting point 💧 A big thanks to DTU Skylab, Copenhagen School of Entrepreneurship, and Actory for driving this important initiative. Follow the links to read more about the open innovation programme, the challenges, and of course APPLY ✍ https://lnkd.in/eRkJ3__b https://lnkd.in/dEMH-QdX #sustainablecities #openinnovation #letsclosethegap #partnerforsustainablechange

Questions... 1. Should a regional Innovation Zone be based inside a University Campus? 2. Should start-ups be signposted to Catapults, Research & Technology Organisations and Universities for their early stage product development support? 3. At what stage should start-ups, needing to develop new commercial products, be introduced to Industrial Design consultancies? 4. Why does the NW of England have the 2nd lowest level* of investment in New Product Design and New Service Design in the country? *according to Innovate UK

1. the whole system for supporting innovation needs urgent review - and better targeted funding - universities have a role - along with others - and delivery should be on a (far more effectual) regional basis 2. each innovation region should be able to provide connections to a network of approved suppliers - grounded in each region but without precluding specialists who may be more likely to operate country-wide 3. (all) iterations of design consultancies should be part of this network subject to having appropriate credentials 4. not sure about the north west also...investment and growth needs to be part of this network too, to ensure start ups that have received support actually grow and remain based in the UK with UK owners - things are going to get very country-focused finally...although country-focused, please let's re-establish the UK as part of the EU's innovation eco-system

Reflecting on the milestones that have transformed Greater Boston into a global leader in tech and sustainability, it’s incredible to see how government and academia have driven lasting impact. From the founding of The City of Boston’s Office of New Urban Mechanics in 2010, an initiative that pioneered civic innovation in the U.S., to the Harvard Innovation Labs (i-lab), launched in 2011 to empower student-led startups, we see the early seeds of a collaborative, resource-rich environment. By 2016, the Massachusetts Institute of Technology launched The Engine Accelerator, pushing forward “tough tech” ventures with the resources to tackle world-changing challenges. Fast-forward to 2023, and we find ourselves with the Woods Hole Oceanographic Institution’s Ocean Tech Hub, furthering ocean research and technology to address critical environmental issues. Looking ahead, the planned Boston Climate Innovation Center (2025) aims to position Boston at the forefront of climate tech, fostering solutions that could have a global impact. Together, these milestones reveal an intentional, layered approach to building a robust innovation ecosystem where government and academia intersect to drive societal progress. Share if you want to add any other meaningful moments to Greater Boston's innovation journey. #Innovation #GreaterBoston #Sustainability #TechEcosystem #InnovationMilestones #CivicInnovation #ToughTech #ClimateTech #OceanResearch #AcademicMilestones
